The decals went out in this morning's mail ! Since I won't be using mine for a while I look forward to hearing from anyone who actually applies them to a McLapper , I'm very curious how they work and look .

Hey Todd , check out my Tijuana Taxi and my Street Fighter builds on the C.C builders site. One is Krylon orange and the other is Plasti Kote orange . Althouh they are different shades , the both look right ( imho) when you check out different pictures of the real McLaren online. I still haven't made up my mind which to use !

For what it's worth here's the Krylon Orange (Pumpkin Orange) that I have , it might be pretty close but it needs a clear coat . The Tamiya Clear Orange is a brighter color and with a couple more coats it does get darker . I think they both would work , again it depends on the photo you're trying to match it to . Another forum says to use Duplicolor 1994 Volkswagen Golf Tangerine . I think it looks like the Tamiya Clear Orange , plus being a '94 color good luck finding any ! And ScaleFinishes has "McLaren Orange" for an airbrush , but I prefer rattle cans myself . I hate trying to match a paint color !

The Krylon Pumpkin orange is a good choice. It worked well on the McLapper I did up using the yellow kit. I've also used a florescent orange as the base, but definitely had to plan on overcoating it with lotsa gloss.

Here's one:
At the time, I had to print up the decals on my inkjet. The 2s are on top of a double layer of white decal circles. Then some gloss coat

Then some gloss coat That's how I always do my own decals too , that white paper is just too translucent . Seems like a manufacturer would step up and fix that ! Cool McLapper , that color looks pretty good !

Another forum says to use Duplicolor 1994 Volkswagen Golf Tangerine . I actually saw an old VW Golf this morning and it had to be this color . . . it looked exactly like McLaren Orange ! It would be worth hunting for some of this color paint .
