As always thanks for all of of this vacuforming stuff. Its just one more thing that I dont have time for but, its interestin' Cheers,Smokey You're quite welcome Smokey. Just sharing like others have shared before and benefitted me. I love the historical stuff about our hobby too, and can't believe it's so hard to find pictures or info about the people who make (made) the wooden patterns that the molds our kits come from. Yeah, very interesting, and sometimes cornfusing, figuring out how to do this, but it's still modeling ๐ John

Been enjoying some freeform scratchbuilding- fabbing styrene into front axle, wishbones, and cooling system parts ๐ While debating scratching a rad cap, I spied the dried up marker I use to wrap sandpaper around for sanding, and figured it could spare a bit of it's cap. Perfect Weirdohs look ๐ I use this double-sided tape a lot when fabbing multiple pieces. Gotta be the permanent double-sided tape. Two layers of .060" styrene. Revised the tires shape and size just a bit. More round than egg shaped, and back wee bit taller. Don't want to take away from the Hi in Hiboy. Just cut these mockups out of rigid foam insulation. Final tires/wheels will be all styrene and some vacuforming will be involved. Slicks here are full thickness, and front skinnies I sliced one disc down the middle. Tentative width of final tires๐ค Headlight buckets are auxiliary gas tanks from a 1/48 Me 110 Zerstorer kit. Might just leave them ribbed like they are. Wishbones worked out good, and the front end is now solid man..... seriously- Solidly attached to the frame at 4 points in true Weirdohs style ๐ John

It's Flattie Time! On the left, the making up of the intake manifold, and on the right, a rack of Cibie lights from the partsbox was transformed into trips, sitting on top of the intake- the arrow showing it's the same manifold, even though I Photoshop-ed the two pics together. Fabbed up the intake stacks..... ....and added chokes to each of the carbs, and started whittling a magneto๐ John

And now... fuel and spark. Glued a piece of angle to itself to make a box for a fuel manifold to feed the carbs. Glued a piece of gray sprue to one end, drilled it to accept the wire fuel line, with fittings fabbed from styrene tube. Manifold done and installed. Magneto also in place, ready for test fitting of fake plug wires. Special magneto too..... Diamond dust glass bead reamer ๐ Magneto ready for paint now, and carbs ready for some high test ๐ Coming along. John

This is getting exhausting ๐ But I love it. Flanges first.... ...then open up the ports, being careful to make the openings larger for ease of assembly.... or for heat expansion ๐๐ ๐ค Hmmm.... Should I, or shouldn't I? John

Have to start with this disclaimer; *No real asbestos has been used in this post* Zoomies cut down to size. Decided to do more conventional, curved main pipe. When I realized I would have to putty up the zoomers, I remembered the dudes wrapping their pipes ๐ and found my paper tape. Started by cutting the tape half width, but had to go quarter width. Good width and sufficient adhesion ๐ Above is the wrapped zoomie before, and below, after a dusting of ground pastel dust. John

Putting the flat in Greasy Gary's flattie... Got the styrene sheet rectangle for the base, and some square styrene stock cut & ready. Little red circle is showing the marks for laying out the low-temp spark plug holes. Rough & ready for some machining. Layed a strip on, flowed liquid sticky on and repeated. Transferred plug hole centers to center strip.... ....and let drill walk... ๐ Threaded some nice competition orange wires thru the magneto, found some purplish tubing for the boots.... to match the rad cap ๐ค ๐ฎ๐ Crap.... Even a Totally Fake Weirdohs style model has to have a bell housing.... I'll be back ๐ฌ John

Ding dong.... ๐ Took advantage of the bell house install to reinforce the lower end๐ Bored thru the rear motor mount plate for a square stock retainer (to keep the fake bell house strip from springing away) Small wooden spring loaded clothes pins are holding the square stock in place while glue sets. Available @ Michael's- nice little clampers ๐ Got the other topper fabbed & ready while waiting on the glue to set so I could test fit the block & bell housing in... ....and, looks good... ๐... Hey! Whattaya want from a Totally Fake kit??? โPHOTOSHOP ALERT!โ After dipping the block assembly in some sweet licorice primer, I just had to do a split screen image to show both ends at the same time! ๐ Test fit of zoomie #1... ๐ Good thing I bored those ports oversized. Now to fab up some shock absorbers ๐ค John

Time to fab the shock absorbers for the front axle and headlights ๐ค Preliminary mockup under the scrutiny of a pair of Totally Fake eyeballs ๐ฌ Together and in pieces. Used a paper punch to punch out the mounting tabs, which fit in the slots cut/filed in the ends of the tubings.... My buddy Frank is squeezing the tube down onto the mounting tab while the glue and styrene goo meld together.... resulting in the rough but workable shocks. Thanks Frank ๐ค Well, when I really needed Frank's help, he leaves me to go cause some mayhem in the village...๐ Not easy hooking everything together all by myself, but I managed. ๐ Hmmm.... Seems Frank decided to throw some paint on the flattie... I hope it's paint ๐ฒ๐ Yeah, looking good. And we have a very excellent Totally Fake and Weirdohs style independent suspension now ๐๐๐ Gotta find Frank now, see what he's doing..... John
