Some of you may use the "Attachment" feature to add photos to your post , but recently we reached the board's storage capacity so this feature is not presently available . You also may remember when this happened a year ago and Chuck went in and randomly deleted photos to create more space , not a fun chore deciding who's photos go and who's photos stay . I took the time to count all of the attachments and there are currently almost 2,000 photos in our storage !! So we need to make a decision . Delete all of the photos and start from scratch . . . or leave them alone and the attachment feature will no longer be available . Your opinion would be greatly appreciated . BOB .

Bob, Chuck.... I am here via Tapatalk, and I believe- not 100% sure though- that my photos are on them(?) hosted by them(?)
That said.... I don't know what else to say, or offer.

One possibly is to leave maybe a year worth of threads.. and clear up all whats in there. If members wants to keep pics of final builds. They can simply post one build in the gallery. If the members want to see the progress of a specific final builds, they can ask the member to share through e mail or some sort.
I would suggest to clear up the last few years of thread and keep maybe a year or two worth of threads. Delete each monthly threads in turns.
Just a thought.

OK, I am a PC derelict when it comes to the bones of how this works.
I have my photos hosted at Imgur and use a "board friendly" link to show my pics.
Is that good or bad for the boards data cap?

The attachments are identified by the thread name not by date , I could guess at it but it would be a pain . I randomly deleted 100 attachments just before the M2W contest started in April and the capacity is at 100% again in less than five months . I think I can speak for Chuck when I say that we don't want to be spending time deleting photos .

my opinion is give everyone the weekend who is wanting to copy any of the posted photos then delete them all and start fresh It probably sounds drastic to some but I agree with you , deleting everything would solve the problem and give us maybe 4 or 5 years before it happens again . Unless somebody has an alternative I'll start deleting Sunday night .

Hopefully there is a solution to reduce the capacity data in forums. Deleting pics is probably time consuming doing it manually. I believe there is some way some where we can find a solution. Perhaps contact the Proboard for a better solution?? hmm...

The only TEMPORARY solution is to buy more storage space.. the once it Fills up you are back in the same situation .. we do the best we can with what we have , prizes, mailing supplies, postage etc.. we are self funded Brian .. these companies all have their hands out wanting money. Free to a point yes , but at the end of the day It’s all revenue driven..

Hey we could restrict access to registered members only and charge an annual fee , say twenty dollars ? Now that would solve all of our problems . As hard as it is to get help with shipping costs , I'm sure we would lose 95% of our members if we started charging a membership fee . That's also why I won't charge an entry fee to any of our contests , nobody would enter .

Yes thats another issue... charging some fees for membership or charging fee for several reason prevents others from making their effort to invest in the forum here... Donations is often the best opportunity but doesn't always comes out as easy or effective. Hmm.. We need to think ways to get some funds here besides donations.
Creating a entry fee only for contest say, 10 or 15 dollars per entry would maybe... maybe.. boost some little funds. Maybe ask around the members through surveys and see what the result could be.
Maybe give a month or two worth of time span to allow people write in surveys, and see the response. Send members the messages asking them to fill in some surveys. Its like rolling the dices and see whats comes out.

At least for now we will be marching forward in the “free” category... always open to hear options for those who wish to chime in.. I totally agree with Bob .. if we were to start charging for contest entries or membership this place for the most part would be an empty room..
