I always wanted to add the Revell / Roth inspired slot car to my model shelf .. after researching I decided to build a clone using the Revell vintage Lotus slot car . I found a re-pop rat fink on eBay and went to work .. |

I started with the blue builder .. same car , same manufacturer , just a different color and without Ratfink goodies ! Again I found a resin blower which was a perfect fit |

The original slot car was more of a lavender and a little bland for my liking .. I reverted more towards the deep dark color of the original bad art and added a. Little metal flake because that’s what Roth would have done ! |

A few more shades of gray on Finky and then a little Molotow treatment on the chrome parts ! |

Working on decals .... Roth used 22 1/2 for this kit and 33 1/3 for the other ... the origin of 33 1/3 I know but I’m not sure where or why Ed used 22 1/2 . |

Wow! Are we all having a flashback... or what? I seem to remember seeing this Finky Lotus, just.... 40 or 50 years ago? 🤣🤣

I would guess 55 years ago? I seem to recall crashing ol' RF right off the car on the first turn on the first lap at the big slot car track in San Leandro, CA.

Growing up in So.Cal. it was all skateboards and slot cars in the 60's , definitely a flashback ! While my big brother was racing Ferrari's and Daytona Coupes I had good ol' Rat Fink and Mr Gasser in has Brabham . Not sure what happened to them , probably scrapped when we switched to H.O. around '66-'67 . Looking forward to seeing some finished pics !  |

Yeah I miss the old slot racing days at the hobby shop on that huge track... I ran a Porsche, a Mercury Comet, a Cheetah and a Cobra back in Lancaster California... Good memories!!!  |
