I'll be starting up a couple of build threads soon, but here's a few of my older models to get the ball rolling.
A Few Finks for starters,
Mothers Worry and Fink Eliminator...
Closely followed by Drag Nut and Mr Gasser...
Drag Nuts car has a few Revell 1.16 scale parts added.
These guys are over twenty years old now although the bases are a bit more recent. 18mm MDF board with a bevell cut, wrapped in art card and with box tops propped up out back to give a kind of dealer display look. I'll be refining the bases later to give a better flow to the things. I like this sort of display a lot.

Excellent paint work on these Tony , they definitely look just like the box art ! Drag Nut is the very first model I ever built at around 7 or 8 years old . Of course my paint wasn't anything to brag about , I got more on the kitchen table than on the model . And making your own Store Displays is a great way to display them !

Toon kits are a great excuse to break out the bright colors. I usually start with a solid or metallic basecoat and top that with a candy color of some sort. It seems to give a lot more depth and the colors really brighten up like that. I normaly leave the finish in gloss as a flat clear over that lot sometimes dulls the finish. Nothings set in stone though, rules are made to be broken.
I like store displays a lot. Dean Milanos Museum and a couple of articles in the car modelling press many years ago turned me on to them. I own one original, an early Monogram Cadillac Coupe display. Finding affordable ones on this side of the pond is next to immposible, so I make my own.
If I may be permitted one off topic photograph, here's what I mean...
This lot were all made by me. I used the box artwork as a basis and expanded on it to give me the Dealer Displays I wanted. The Little T base is a collaboration between Harley and I. He built the Little T kit and I made the base for it. It made an appearence over at Daves Show Rod site in the last century.
Getting back onto Toon topics, I'll be attempting to use the same techniques to make Fink and Weird Oh displays that will certainly make a showing here. The four shown at the top of the thread are a bit basic and were more tryouts than proper builds.
There will probably be a bit of crossover building turning up as I also like to incorporate Toon kits with scale models. The Monogram 1.8 scale kits are perfect for that type of build. Here's an example, yet another build that needs a renovation programme. It's a Monogram Big Deuce with a couple of desperate characters looking for trouble.
The wheels and tires are resin copies of Lindberg ones, the hubcaps are stanchion bases from the Monogram Big T kit. That was all was available back when I built the model.
Part of the renovation planned for this one includes adding proper big and littles from the later version of the Revell/Monogram Big Deuce.
There are a few others like this, including a Lindberg Big T with an Airfix skeleton driving. All need a bit of rebuilding, which seems to be a common theme with everything I've posted so far!
Tony.

After straying from the path with those car displays above, I had better bring the thread back into line. What better way to do that than to add Revells Rat Fink to the thread... And adding an Angel Fink won't hurt. Both builds are old ones. The pictures were taken yesterday though. I like to mess around with different photo settups. These shots were taken using overhead natural light and various card backgrounds. I have a lot of different backgrounds to pick from ranging from sheets of solid color card to period looking wallpapers and a whole lot inbetween. It's a part of my model making I enjoy a lot. Here's the photo settup... Curving the black card gives a graduated background. The red mirror card gives a much more dramatic effect with a bit of curve added to it. Additional lighting changes things again but the very basic settup above gets the job done.

More from the vaults... Scale Auto Enthusiasts '96 Gallery edition had a few models from the UK included. Harley got a bike featured, I got Count Dragula. A testors release of Hawks Daddy became one of the undead. The transformation included adding resin hair, Revells 1.16 Hemi and slicks from the parts bin and a flowing cape made by dipping a piece of cloth in casting resin and quickly shaping it around the Counts neck as it set. Black paint on the outer, a gold base with a candy red for the lining. The red didn't show in the published picture and it was my favourite part of the build! The base was made out of chipboard with a spackle covering that got a few railway scenics scattered onto it. I'm not sure if I still have the build, I can't remember getting rid of it but I also can't remember seeing it recently. Mind you, I forget why I've walked into a room sometimes.

If you ever do come across Count Dragula I'd love to see "Finished" thread with some more photos , even in unrestored condition !

”More from the vaults... Scale Auto Enthusiasts '96 Gallery edition had a few models from the UK included. Harley got a bike featured, I got Count Dragula. ” Welcome to the board,Tony!!!! I thought I came up with my own unique user name for most of the boards I am on. I didn’t know you named this build that in 96,a good 11 years before I was on ANY board! Lol! From Todd. A.K.A Count Dragula.

Thanks Todd, it's good to be here. I used to print and sell T Shirts at car shows back in the eighties and nineties, I was known then as Tshirt Tony. When I tried to use that as an internet name, I found it already taken on any site I tried! I modified the Count Duckula cartoon characters name for my model. The cartoon was playing in the UK at the time.
I also dug up an old photo (remember them?) of the Count that shows the red inside his cape. The base took a whole jar of Tamiya clear red. I wanted it to look like a lake of blood!

Built "Mothers Worry" back in the 60's, long gone but have another in the stash. Have the "Fink Eliminator" issued by Lodela/Revell of Mexico there known as "EL ELIMINADOR" instructions in Spannish, I will survive. Like your display method, using the box lid art for back drop, could easily be made to hang on the wall. Nice presentation, do more..............cheers.

If you ever do come across Count Dragula I'd love to see "Finished" thread with some more photos , even in unrestored condition ! It looks like the Count is no more, I've found a few parts from the build in my spares box which suggests the model got reduced to parts some time ago.
I did find another picture from a feature Terry Ross did for Street Machine Magazine in January 1999. I suddenly feel very old...
The same article had another couple of builds from me including these two 1.8 scale Monogram Big Deuces with Fink riders. I chanelled the black one and made resin carb scoops. I still have both models. I'll be bringing these two to the front of the renovation and repair line. They both need it now!
