This has been sitting for a while and since I've been in a slump lately I thought maybe this would get my blood flowing again . . . This is a mock-up I posted a year or so ago when we discovered that several members have this little Suburban . While digging for parts I found that the wheelbase of the Zzzzz28 is a nearly perfect fit ! The only thing it needs are some longer axles . After cleaning up the body and opening the rear wheel openings it sits pretty good . I looked at the Revell '66 Suburban kits and the prices are crazy so the bumpers grille and other trim will come form a Revell '66 Chevy Pickup I just happen to have . All the parts are the same and I doubt I'll ever build it anyway . I've got an idea for the paint so all I need to do is hunt for some suitable wheels . I want to keep the stock look using the kits center caps but would like to find different wheel diameters . . . not always easy so this might take a while .

Made some great progress over the weekend ! I made a longer front axle and some spacers , the stock rear axle looks okay . For the front wheels I'm using the stock wheels and caps from the pickup . For the rears I started with larger resin wheels and replaced the centers with wheel backs I found that look like the fronts , then larger caps were made . Moving on to the body fitting this header panel was a real challenge . The resin was warped pretty bad and at first I thought it would need major work to fit , I even considered replacing the front with a section from the pickup body . After sleeping on it and decided to try a simpler approach and used a flat file across the top inside of the opening , then a couple of slices inside the front fenders so it would squeeze into place . After some creative grinding the panel actually fit pretty good ! I also pre-fit the windshield . . . surprisingly it snapped right into place with no grinding needed ! I used .030" square rod to add a lip to the rear wheel openings . A little filler , some sanding , and then primer to finish them off . Here's the result !
