This Danbury Mint "Mr Gasser" belonged to a neighbor until his 5 year old son knocked it off the shelf . I literally grabbed it as it was being thrown in the garbage ! It was in pretty bad shape , the car was broken off the base , his arm was broken off as was his pinky , and his hair was in a dozen little pieces . Of course the exhaust flames were snapped off too ! That was two months ago and now it's back in one piece again . Getting the pieces to line up and gluing the ceramic together was quite a challenge . . . touching up the paint was the easy part ! Wow ! I wasnt aware of this being made in die cast.

I'm not trying to be a downer here, because I have been burned a few times on eBay myself. Your DW VAN is a reissue. The original DW VAN was originally a golden brown color. There are many unscrupulous sellers on eBay that will put a reissue in an older box and sell it as original. The good news is the $40 delivered to you is still a pretty good price, and if you paint it, no one will ever know the difference.

Yeah! You can find some really cool stuff at the thrift stores to start something with. Was at a Goodwill just the other day, debating whether to get a school bus toy with open top...🤔

It’s happened too many times to mention .. not only in the DW line but other plastic kits as well.. especially those cast in white plastic or light gray...

Todd may have gotten scammed on the authenticity of the kit, but he came out way ahead on two counts. He got the 1996 release for a great price. And, the brown plastic is more workable for personalizing than the metal flake plastic, which can become brittle over time. ---- But, yeah, I definitely have a bone to pick with purposely misleading sellers.

After I received the kit I did indeed notice the later reissue date on the side of the box.BUT,it also has the H-1362 number with the H-series being the original release number,so I can see why the seller listed I as a H-1362 release(he didn't know which issue it was). The box top was extremely sun faded, and the other side panel had a picture of Dave Deal, and a picture of ALL of the original DW kits,so that also added to his perception that it was an "old" release.I wasn't mad about this deal at all,and I gave the seller the benefit of the doubt about the kit not being original because he DIDN'T deceive ME and throw the reissue in an original box....he was simply naive to this kits history, and made an honest mistake that he thought it was an old release. He never mentioned that it was an "original" release. It was listed as "Revell Vee Dub Van H-1362 model kit".I even thought that the "Old School" release of this kit was the only reissue, and I now know that I was wrong...Thanks for the history lesson plastimatic! Hope that clears up this "score"! Todd
