  Welcome to the 2015 Car-Toons Model Contest ! We've been working very hard to get this up and running so that everybody can have some fun and also have enough time to build their models . The rules are pretty simple but we know there will be some questions and some gray areas along the way . This is the place to ask those questions and to post comments . And if you have a suggestion we'd like to here that too ! Chuck (Starryeyes) , Ira , and myself will be the "Unofficial" judges which basically means we'll be hanging out to make sure that everything runs smoothly and to answer your questions . In my next post I'll go into a little more detail about how everything will work . Edit : I'd like to clarify the "Stock" category , it doesn't mean box stock . You can swap parts and modify it any way that you want , as long as it remains stock "appearing" . This could be one of those "gray" areas that we'll deal with one at a time .  |

Thanks Guys, this looks great, Count me in! I am looking forward to getting my butt kicked, but good! haha
See, other than some Zingers 40 years ago, I have never built any of these type of models, even though I have 50+ types of these kits in my collection.
But being inspired by the great work I've seen by everyone on this board, I'm dying to get into it.
But here's my only issue. I'm fixin to throw a huge monkey wrench into this.
A problem I've always had for 30 years with "live" contests is that the people who put on and judge the contest, (In the interest of fairness) are never eligible to be entered. Hence we miss out on some great builders.
So my proposal is this, another category would be "The Staff" category. This would include judges or sponsors or promoters, anyone behind the scenes that would normally be deemed ineligible. They could build one model each (of anything covered in the categories) and those entrees would be voted on by the rest of the entrants.
Now you didn't mention here that the three of you are not eligible, I'm just assuming that's the way it would be, since you are all very honest guys.
Chuck, Bob and Ira, (so far) are some of the top builders here and I would like to see them involved building also (You don't think we're gonna do all the work, do ya? haha)
Hope this idea doesn't ruffle any feathers (I've been known to do that...haha) It's all about a good time.

Thanks again for putting this all together Your Friend Jim You bring some really good points Jim !.. #1 - first and foremost please don't worry about not having built in a while.. as long as we are having fun that's what this is all about buddy ! This contest is for the MEMBERS!... We wanted to do something nice for you guys... We can gladly build along but in my opinion WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR PRIZES.... ... another option is to build along with you guys and allow YOU as members to pic your favorite ... Yeah, Chuck that's what I meant, the other entrants picking the staffs entries would be separate from the regular contest. I understand you don't want to be eligible for the contest awards. But like you said it's for the members, and you guys are also members so I would like to see you involved in building at some capacity also. When you said I haven't built in a while, I just meant the type of stuff on this board, I build other stuff quite regular. I just finished a community build project for another board that I built in five days (Ala Ira, haha) It's a Willys Gasser that you guys can see at: countdragulascastle.freeforums.net/under "Gassers CBP finished photos" It's a cool site ran by a nice guy who is also a member here Todd Russell (Count Dragula) Thanks for the reply Your Friend Jim |

Thanks again for putting this all together Your Friend Jim Thanks for the idea Jim and who knows . . . anything is possible , but for now I'm fine with building just for fun and not being entered in the contest . Like Chuck said . . . this is for you guys to get the creative juices flowing again and have some fun ! I had fun putting the contest together and will be tickled pink if it's a success !  And don't worry , you're going to see some builds posted by us right along side the rest of the members . I have a couple ideas rattling around in my head . . . just need to get my butt in gear ! And nice looking Willys , I've got a couple of those planned myself ! BOB . |

Cool idea for a contest ! Right now my kitchen is completely torn apart, so my model building is nearly at a standstill ( gotta keep the wife happy lol !) So as long as theres no problem entering already completed models, I'm in !
