i was inspired by Dennis aka kooltoon and his steampunk garage and thought i'd build one myself. on my weekly excursions to flea markets and yard sales i have been picking up odds and ends for this build.today i cobbled together the walls and floor from some scrap i found in my tool room. its 9 "wide x21"long x11" high...odd size but it will fit perfectly into a book case i have and leave room behind for some lighting.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeey Bubbajoe, way to go. Glad to see you starting your Steampunk Garage. I like the idea of using the beaded board, it will add to the look. Is that a steam powered gun I see in the garage? Your inspiring me buddy. I'm wanting to do another garage but very different. I built my first one with the possibility of a second story, maybe that's what I'll do. Man you got me thinking.

Its all new to me as well....but i'm liking it more and more as i do more research on the subject...so much so that i'm building a steampunk light for my model room...i picked up some old gauges and gas pipe and in the process of putting it together..i still need a really cool light fixture to go with it.maybe i'll luck out next week at the flea markets and find something..
Dennis ..funny you mention 2nd floor...the dio is 11" tall and i'm thinking of adding a 2nd floor to it...maybe an elevator or a spiral staircase..or both..i'm still in the planning stages right now.meaning i'm just sitting here staring at the box right now..lol...the bead board just happen to be in my tool room gathering dust.i liked how it looked but i may go with a brick face instead..and i'm playing around with a wood floor...SOOO many ideas flooding my head right now and i just can't nail anything down..but i'm thinking of a boiler and lots of gears and gizmos...the gun came out of a play set i picked up at the dollar store ..i drilled it out and added a barrel...it came with a shield and an army guy..the shield will make a perfect door..i also picked up the guts of an old mantel clock and a box of watch parts for a couple of bucks...huge selection of brass gears and parts to add to it....as you can tell i'm very excited about this build..i'll post pics as it progresses

I love that floor & the nails. Yes, it's a lot of work but when it's done, it's great looking.
Great idea for the shield.
What you've done with the gun is great, the gears, wire & paint really add to it.
It's all looking great, Bubbajoe.

well i finally had some time this afternoon to play around with this dio. the elevator is coming along. not done yet i still need to add all the gears and pipes..but at least i got some paint on it...fisrt i primed it with textured paint..i used hammered steel.then painted it with an aged copper .then a dark wash and a few colors of green to give it a patina of old copper. what i started with..just a piece of 2" pvc and a shield form a play set that i cut the handle off and glued a part form a watch to .. the rivets are 1/2" brass nails. here it is lit up....i just placed my desk lamp over the pipe to give you an idea of what it will look like.

I like the patina Bubbajoe, it looks like metal, nice. Yes those 1/2" brass nails work out great for rivets.
