Thoughts for 2018 Contests

These are a few ideas I have : 

* I'd like to have a contest where anything goes !
  Any Toon kit . . . plastic or resin or scratchbuilt , built any way you want !

* Maybe have two categories , one for basically stock builds and one for customs  and scratchbuilt models.   There may be a special category for a specific type of kit , Zingers maybe ?
  This would all depend on the number of participants .

* For 2018 you can enter as many builds as you want in any one contest . If you have the time to build two or three models you can enter them all in the same contest !

* Speaking of time . . . that's always a problem .
  We all have different schedules and obligations that make it impossible to pick a good time for a contest .   So one thing I'd like to try this time around is as follows :
  Any builds started after January 1st 2018 and posted in a WIP thread will be eligible to enter any  contest held during 2018 ! Start your WIP thread and even post photos in the Finished section , then  as long as it fits the requirements of a particular contest you can enter it !
  For example if a Weird-Ohs contest were to be held from August 1st thru September 30th you can  enter the Weird-Oh that you built in March !
  The only restriction is that it can only be entered in one contest .

You can do whatever kind of contest that you come up with. I really enjoy the WIP of other builders. I'm buildin' whenever I have time just to keep my sanity. I also guess that I'm gettin' old 'cause I just may build a Deals Wheels box stock. I have never built one without modifin' something on it. Like a bone stock one of the same model that I have modifided. Kind of to pay respect to Dave Deal. Thanks to all involved! Cheers,Smokey

Even though I am very busy raising my teenager kids. I will definitely make time to build one... hopefully two.. if I had to the desperate move

The addition of allowing any build started after Jan 1st to be entered in a contest is to give all of you extra time to be able to enter !
Like in past years we plan on two contests for 2018 , the first being the "build anything" contest and the second will be a more specific subject . Actual dates for each will be announced after the new year .
So start thinking about the first contest and take advantage of the extra time !

A quick update on our contest plans . . .

First up will be the anything goes , stock or crazy custom , Car-Toons Contest .
This will be in the late spring , probably April - June , and depending on the number of participants will have two categories .

The second contest will be held late summer and will be a Zingers contest . It seems that interest in Zingers is limited and it would be great to get more people involved in building one of these little buggers , so there will be several of these kits among the prizes in the first contest !

And our NEW eligibility policy will apply to both of these contest .
Any model Started after January 1st 2018 and posted in a WIP thread can be entered !
You don't have to wait for the contest start date to start your model !

Look for an official announcement after the New Year .

Well explained Bob ! And you know I’m good for a couple builds for the contests !! Looking forward to getting some bench time AND seeing everyone’s progress shots !!
