The yellow RF, some preshading on the ears and elbows is the only airbrush work the rest is brush. The red was done by starting with black. Using citadel water based acrylic I mixed a dark red/brown. brushed on 2 thin coats leaving a thin black bit around the yellow. I then mixed lighter versions till I got to a red/yellow color slightly working away from the black and other areas that would be shaded by light. Then blended back with bright red to go over the yellow/red. Blending as in very watered down paint sort of wiped on thin. All up around 25 layers to get that red. The green skin done in a similar way but base coated with dark, mid and highlight shades. See following pic. Looks quite harsh but this will push and richen the color from under the following thin layering to get a nice rich blend. Once the skin tone was worked up I started painting very thin fur lines in an array of different greens and yellows. The face was again basecoated very harsh pink. Getting this kind of look you really have to think about whats under your paint. I then layered on browns and skintones blending into green to the back of the head. I also heavily glazzed and washed the face. The feet preshading. Again quite rough but always thinking about whats under the skin! I tend to paint what light does to a shape and exagerate it. Dark shades for shadows and brighter tones for highlights. Then layer over the top of that. This paint dries so quick that it doesn't take as long as you might think. Still a lot of work.

Thank you very much for the explanation on your painting technic . i appreciate it .. mind a couple more questions? what color is your base coat? did i read correctly that it is black? if it is black is this the primary base color you use or do you use other color bases depending on subject and paint colors..and do you make your own washes and what glazes are you using...thanks again for the help scott
