Just picked up three cans of Krylon SHIMMER METALLIC and it is pretty cool stuff. This is not the krylon Glitter Flake stuff. I was only able to find three colors but who knows if there are more. Small flakes and goes on really nice. Every once in while they come up with some cool stuff. I just painted these wheels with it. Attachment Deleted

Hey Chuck, Those were painted over really faded flat chrome with no chrome at all on the back side of the wheels which were red. I did not use primer. It covered the red like it was nothing. That paint went on really nice and covered it all in the same color. It would be like 1/25 scale flake (can not really see any flakes) and highly metallic/candy looking. It really is not like any Krylon I have used and I have used EVERY color and kind of paint they have ever put out. I put it on heavy. I will try this on a larger piece of plastic maybe next week. But so far I like it. I only found blue, purple and green. Hoping they have more colors.

I usually mix and airbrush everything except when dry brushing however this has sparked interest ... I may have to snatch a can of each and give it a whirl.. If I see any additional colors I'll be sure and post an update

Thanks for the tip on this paint,Fletch!!! Someday off in the future ---like b4 2020,lol--- I wanted to do The Deals Wheels '57 Chevy in a "different" shade of blue that kinda mimics one of my favorite Tom Daniel kits, the '57 Chevy funny car called the "Outcast".....I may pick up a can and try it on an Outcast body before I build the a minto Outcast that I have-- (the "test" Outcast is on a rough body from a cheap builder that I scored off of fleabay).
Picture this kit with the box art posted below in the shade of blue Fletch's wheels are painted in: Todd

I just went over to krylon.com to see what they got and it is a lot. There are nine colors in the Shimmer Metallic line. Gold, silver, red, green, blue, black, pink, purple and black cherry. Now I just have to find a store that carries them.
They had some paint called Spray and Peel. Wonder if that would work as a spray-on mask? Had something called Sea Glass finish which is frosted clear colors. Got to be something cool we could do with that. Also had a Chalky finish - maybe good for a weathered finish on a car roof?
Nothing wrong with airbrushes but I am a dyed-in-the-wool spray can lover. It's a great invention and now the colors and finishes are amazing. Textures, crackles, stone, hammertone, etc. Has to be the golden age of spray can paint.
