BUBBAS"Baron Challenge" Entry

Hi Guys, here is my entry thread for the baron build.... i will post photos as soon as i can ....what a summer!!! one project after another.... they are all almost completed.. finished painting the back deck today.. still need to do the doors and trim...thats for another day.... really looking forward to being able to joining in on this build.... it will be fun to see everyones take on the same model...have fun . i'll be back soon

Your right, this would be a neat study of social psychology.

I got to stand on a corner with my psych class and do an experiment.
very broad: just ask people the one ?Q?

        " Would you like a hotdog? "

Typically a yes or no answer, Right?
Wrong!
Answers came back like
"is it pork or beef?"
"What can I have on it?"
"What brand are they?"
"What type of bun?"
"cooked on a grill?"
"do you have Veggie dogs?"

out of the 500 people asked only 2 said "yes" and 16 said "no".
500 people crossed that same corner to get where they where going that day (a very small to no connection with each other). 484 were interested in a hotdog, 482 had their own criteria or standards. One Social group many different ideas.
Its the interpretation of the Q that I find most interesting?

You'll get to it , the whole idea of the Challenge is to get us all touching plastic again !
This kit goes together pretty quick and building it right out of the box is just what doctor ordered . But once you start I bet you'll come up with a little something to put your name on it .

Hi Guys, long time no see.. once again my apologies for being absent for so long. Life has a way of catching up to you. I can't believe it has been almost 3 months since i have been here. Work work and more work. guess thats a good thing.  well here it is . I just finished it. no work in progress picks. I have had very little time to model these past months. it literally has been 10 minutes here 15 minutes there.. if i was lucky a whole hour on Saturday.when i got time to sit at my desk the last thing i thought about was picks..  It is strictly out of the box. i had every intention of doing the motor but with time being a commodity i decided to cut it short and finish it. for the nuts and bolts... i covered the body and wings in cloth tape. i wanted to give it that realistic look of a bi plane of days gone bye.. each piece was wrapped in tape then each section cut out to reveal the detail of the wings and body. then 2 coats of a nice red craft paint followed by 3 coats of future .  this is my first attempt at painting a wood grain. not bad ..but i need to work on the graining. its a bit faint . but all and all i'm happy with the results. tan spray paint followed by 3 colors of brown then clear yellow. the baron is sporting some real eyebrows and stash. 3 colors of flesh and then some pastel chalks for highlights. 

Wish i could say i'll have more time for plastic . winter is usually our down time on the farm ,but my wife is going  in for a knee replacement in 3 weeks  and we'll be dealing with that. i'll try to be more active. i do have a pile of plastic to build.

Your woodwork looks mighty good to me and the cloth finish is pretty cool looking too , great idea !

Neat-o build Joe ! No need to apologize for your absence as that's what's so doggone cool about this little establishment. We can pop in and out whenever we need to !!
