I'll bet none of you guys get this. I have been told it is because I live in a high altitude (6,237 feet). About three or four cans a year start leaking this hard clear stuff out of the bottom seam. No paint ever leaks - just the clear stuff. All brands of paint do it. I keep my paint in my model den and I can always tell when one starts to leak as it stinks up the whole room. Paint can is still good - just the leakage occurs. Not looking for any solutions - but I thought I would share some paint can fun. Attachment Deleted

Wow ,I HAVE seen something like this ! I don't live at a high altitude , and I've only seen this twice ; both cans were Testor's Custom lacquer spray cans .Two of the cans did it ,two different colors . All the other cans are fine. I thought it was something I did ! (like dropping them)

It makes sense that the high altitude could cause that to happen , guess there's not much you can do about that !

Yea - as long as I have lived here (38 years) that leakage has happened. Weird but true! Had quite a few dud spray cans over the decades - the worst ones are when I press the nozzle and the thing jams to full on. Boy that gets messy fast.

Wow and to think we (in Quincy Illinois) are a whopping 568 ft. Above sea level .. Maybe that explains why I've never had this scientific anomaly occur ... Lol

I'm just outside of Pottstown, PA at 180ft above sea level and have a can of Model Masters Custom Lacquer leaking at the bottom seam. Its Royal Blue Pearl but the ooze is smelly clear. like any other leak I put duct tape over it to slow it up. I thought it was just my luck and never thought anymore about it.

Well...I guess it is not the altitude! I have about 300 cans of spray paint in the closet in my model den and for years I was never able to figure out where the "fresh paint" smell was coming from. Sometimes those little clear bubbles just could not be seen while sitting in the boxes I keep the cans in. I suppose I would never had smelled them had they been out in the garage. Yep - they never leaked back in the 60's.
