Since retiring in December I've decided to dig out some of my rare limited run resin kits.. this is a 1/16th scale replica of Ed Riggs 'lil jewel" mastered by Jerry Pitre 1984.. long retired and having the molds in disrepair I waited a long time before pulling this out .. cleaning and straightening resin is an art which I've had my share of doing ... starting on sub assemblies .. the 2-part body is only the beginning of what I hope ends as a fun project ..the photo of finished model us credited to the late friend and artist Sonny DePalma ...

Can't wait to see some progress on this one! From the picture of the one already built, looks that is a very detailed kit.

There's about 40 parts to this resin relic .. I spent the entire day sanding , tweaking, dipping a few parts in super hot water to straighten them prior to assembly .. resin is a challenge in itself let alone one that has sat for 2 decades !!.. I think playing in resin makes us better modelers. it requires much more time, patience, along with different glues even filling tiny holes with super glue gel. Resin reacts differently when being cut but generally sands easier than styrene and in most instances it can be dipped in hot water for a few seconds and "adjusted" holding in place until it cools to make for a better fit.. Different resins respond differently so what may work for one type may not work for another.. Sanding mold lines from my project is part of the process.. along with proper fit by PRE-FITTING all the parts .. it's actually rewarding to just "sand" and see the piece take its intended shape.. parts will soon be ready for their 1st coat of primer to check for imperfections... then assembly and then paint!!. hmmm.. still pondering a few different paint schemes.. Stay-TOONED !!

I'm still prepping parts... filling little voids here and there smoothing things up before the first coat of primer!! Stay Tooned !!
