I guess that this can be called WIP. I at least got it out to start planning things. It's not an old build of mine. I don't know who built it but, it is a pretty clean build. I got it falling partially apart and am taking the rest apart to put it back together. The chrome looks like it was real thin from new and the builder touched it up with silver paint. I'm debating if I should strip and get the chrome parts re chromed or leave it as it was first built. I have a friend in our model group that does chroming. What do you guys think? Leave the patina or over restore it? haha...Cheers,Smokey Attachment Deleted

Hey Yekoms, Just putting in what I would do next time around with the old woodie. I built mine to look like the box art but the chrome always bugged me. The "wood" is so beat up as are the front wheels and other items that the chrome looks out of place. I would love to do all the chrome as rusted metal next time to kind of tie it all together. A little salty air weathering. Don't think you can go wrong no matter what direction you take as this is one cool model kit!

Once I started looking at it more I liked the uglyness of the original build chrome. I did lower the rear a little and un towed in the front end.

It looks great with the modifications Smokey... I dry brushed my wood with different shades of browns & tans... I think my body color is similar to yours!

I got the Woodie in a bag in pieces from an old model club friend years ago. When he saw my first cartoon build (the Bad Boy 55)he gave me the Woodie. It was painted and built but falling apart. He got it that way and we don't know who originally built it. I just polished up the paint that was on it a little and put it back together. The surf board that came with it says Pyro Plastics Corp. 1970 and is the same purple as the Woodie.

car-toons.proboards.com/thread/572/amt-wackie-woodie These are some of things I have not thought of. I am glad you mentioned this and this had changed my thought on how I should build this car with the character as if it just was put together from scraps at the junk yard. So I might would put in some colors with some primer spot to show that its been found in the junk yard and just pull out to bang all together these parts with whatever is available. Thanks for the input, Fletch

Thanks Guys, The Woodie was a quick put back together build. I'm really going to try to stay building. The weather is finally getting better to be outside but building is a great stress reliever for me. I have the toon boat to finish and as I'm doing that I'm going to do to a 1/25 build of a custom '50s Chevy. So if the chop on the Chevy doesn't work out I'll have a toon Chevy custom...haha. Fletch I like your pic with Hodad and the Woodie.
