This is my next project using some big wheels and grille my buddy gave me. The wheels are the exact diameter as the rear wheels on the AMT Wackie Woodie so I thought I would start there. I love old speedsters so this kind of just worked out. The big rear wheels are the same style wood wheel as the fronts of the wackie woodie so it seemed like a good choice to follow through with the speedster angle. Thank you Chuck for getting me started with the basic wackie parts. We will see how it goes from here. Have a 1/8 scale Big T gas tank I will cut down to fit and will use the wackie's rear gate as a firewall. Already scratch built the exhaust and hood. The grille is totally different than the woodie's so it changes the whole look. The woodie's steering wheel and park bench will also be used as well as the frame. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Yep - I am having fun with this. Yep I am putting leather straps on the hood also. Got a whole list of junk I want to do to it but I still want it to be tooned so that is the direction it is going. Hopefully it will look right at home in a wackie woodie universe. Here is the new grille compared to the WW grille. My buddy that gave me the grille & wheels said they were from an old Jim Beam decanter he had at his cabin.Attachment Deleted

This link has about 460 photos of old speedsters. Great stuff! Can't get enough of these. Just about anything goes with the object to be lighter and go faster. www.flickr.com/groups/2051954@N25/pool/

Looks great so far. Are we gonna have to start a "Wackie Wanna Be" series thread?

Keep adding more details to it , the more the better !

Made some side panels for it. Scratch built a new rear end out of a spool and bits of styrene. Sectioned the gas tank by removing a one inch piece. And finally straightened the right side frame rails which were bent towards the middle by half an inch. Zoom zoom! Attachment Deleted

Scratch built a brake handle (at bottom of pic) and made a coil box from the Wackie Woodie's running boards with an on/off switch made from bits. Painted the body in sweet cream and the wheels in red with gloss black chassis. Got the "wood" pieces painted. Now I have to let it dry then do some weathering and start gluing. Attachment Deleted

Getting closer. Made a crank handle and got the paint on. Still working on a round steering wheel mounted windshield that may or may not be used. Attachment Deleted
