This one has been rattling around in a box for a while and with the Baja Humbug being reissued in a couple of months I thought it was a good time to put it back together . The rear window is broken off and missing , and the antenna is broken , but otherwise it's all there . The plan is to have a nice original on the shelf with just a bit of detailing . I have a couple of ideas for the reissue and want this one for a stock comparison . Today's task was to clean and polish the body . Also the front was repainted in Gloss Black , decals don't like flat paint . After the decals are applied it will get sprayed with Dull-Cote . To be continued . . .

Great start to one of my favorites! And glad they're re-issuing it. I feel the same way about some of these kits, that I should have a stock version before I go cutting up a repop. An original sparkle blue one sits in a case on the shelf, and a solid blue issue gathers tenure in the someday pile. Unfortunately, when I clearcoated the sparkle body (and I don't remember which brand I used -- it was some years back), the gloss finish of the plastic buckled, so I had to resort to sanding and painting with a Tamiya that was pretty close to the original color. But I still take reverence in it's age, and that I did better this time (hopefully) than my glue-happy tween years

I picked this one up earlier this year and also have an unbuilt one stashed but have never built a Baja Humbug ! So I finished the artwork to have these decals printed a few months ago but never sent it to the vendor , now I'll just use my trusty inkjet and do my own . Also finished the engine today . Just some detail paint and some plug wires . Stay Tooned !

Love the work on the motor! Crisp and clean. I like the look of the stinger slung to the side and white, Bold move Sir, paid of big!

Decals are on and clear coated . I know the front should be Flat Black but I kind of like the Gloss Black . . . haven't decided yet .

Really Cool Project!.. I had worked on that a couple of years back and sure did enjoyed that model. I sure like that engine work you did. It sure makes color pop out .. even though its a simple work but having different colors all in one places makes us look at them twice. Way to go Bob!

I like the chrome engine but sometimes using a few contrasting colors really improves the look .

the tires are perfect! the driver is awesome, like the eyes. Yellow antenna is a cool idea, it will pop, like the plug wires.
Fun build, thanks for sharing.
