While working on the 49 Merc Woodie, I put the blade to a 36 Ford Cabriolet convertible:
Equal amounts, about 1.5 inches, were taken (separately) from the body (from right behind the door hinges) and the chassis (from right ahead of the rear fenders).
Glued in the rumble seat cover and inner rear fender walls and then did some routing out of the cockpit area. Interior door panels were simply trimmed to fit the forwarded rear end.
Both cars are at about the same point. They need the fenders routed to fit the Good Boots, interiors and chassis', and, of course, drivers!

As you can tell from my builds that I'm not crazy over the Deal'Wheels tires but...your cool builds are changin' my mind. I hear ya, Smokey. The tires have been a subject of discussion over the years (was that a bunny head or an "OK" sign, whether they were mis-cast in the first place, or ways to improve them, etc), but they are what they are. They do help define the look, tho.
All of my Never Was car creations have some form of the originals, with the exception of the Jeepster and DirTSUN (which I felt needed a 4x4 style) and the 1:32 SurfBeetL. Having almost 30 DW cars (stock/mod/NW) on the shelf, I think I'll continue on using 'em.

Some snow day work...
Got some primer and a test coat on, which of course I then messed up before pics by wet sanding. Fenders were routed to fit in some Deals Wheels (as soon as I can cast a couple of sets - see the problem over in the DWNW Woody thread)
Scratched together a DW style interior:
Still need to work on the driver and undercarriage. Still considering pushing a Zzzz-28 type scoop thru the hood. Thoughts?

Sharp little Hot Rod ! Scoop or no scoop depends on the driver .

No real updates on this, but I did manage to cast some black resin wheel halves:
Sanded smooth the pour side and glued the halves together. By adjusting the depth of the resin pour, I can get various widths:
The set on the left is an original front and back tire, the center pair is narrowed a little more than one tread line, and the set on the right would be for a future set of classic skinnies.
They need a little more cleanup and a spray of black satin to finish them off.

Now that's a neat idea for DW tires , I might just have to copy it !

Also cast a bunch of DW heads so that I have a variety to choose from without tapping into the real kits.
Apparently, my casting resin was a little old, so the casts didn't come out as flawless as one would like. Okay by me for these, since I plan on little mods along the way. One of the Vette drivers already went into the Merc Woody, and I'll be using the Van Man for this build.

Here's the Man, sporting handlebars and a jaunty crushed cowboy hat, done up using some off brand of Sculpy. Of note, resin casts stand up to the heat required (275 degrees) to harden the putty, so I worked right on the cast head and threw the whole thing in the oven for half an hour.

Awesome sculpting man👍👍 I keep threatening to try the Sculpy or similar 🤔. Thanks for the specs, and these WIP pictures. All those heads laying on the floor, little weird, but..... 😄
