I'm planning on building two Zingers for the contest so to make things easier I'll do them both in this one thread . My first attempt will be using the bones from this Chevy Zinger . I'm going to swap bodies with the one from this AMT kit and build an AMXinger !

Taking a closer look at the underside of the Chevy it's obvious that everything could use major upgrades , but I'm wanting to finish another project that's getting close so keeping this one simple is the goal and it will only get minor changes . The front wheels & tires will get swapped but I'm thinking the size of the rears looks pretty good . I had also planned on making new headers but after seeing the body sitting there I'll have to think on it a bit . . . maybe just get them out from under the body .

No real progress 'cause I spent the morning going thru boxes of wheels and tires ! Actually found several sets that will work on Zingers so I'm all set in that department . Looked at some pics of '69-70 AMX's and they have Cragar look-a-like wheels so I decided to change out the wheels & tires on the AMXinger . And surprisingly the engine from the Chevy Zinger actually looks more like an AMC 390 than it does a Chevy so I'll use it . It looks a bit small but with the double blower and scoop added it should work .

Prepare yourself before you open the box , they are small and there's not much in the box . . . probably why some guys don't care for them . They are supposedly 1/43rd scale but some are much smaller than that . Good news for you is the Little Red Zinger is one of the bigger ones and measures a whopping 3 1/2 inches long ! All of the engines are 1/20th scale .

Well it's situation normal here , this morning one of the rear wheel/tires from the Chevy Zinger was missing . I've looked everywhere and it's gone , I know it was there last night but now it's just gone . I don't need it for the AMXinger but I was planning on using it later . How does this happen ? Anyway I transferred the suspension parts to the AMX chassis making adjustments to get the ride height correct . It's very crude but painted all black it doesn't really matter . . . Keep It Simple right ?

Good news , I found the AWOL wheel and tire ! They were in a box I had looked in three times and they weren't there , this morning there they were . . . Gremlins . So here's my 2nd Zinger build , a 1/43rd Hot Wheels that I had stripped months ago to repaint . Lost interest so now it will be a Zinger !
