Finally pulled this one off the shelf so I can scratch it off my bucket list .. Boss Fink has been lurking on my shelf for years.. Body assembled Seams filled / sanded and in primer. I was 1 front tire and 1 rear shy so I cast a couple to help complete this cartoonish build ...

The frame has done fairly aggressive dip marks out of the box so slicking the frame sides up were a must .. I’m on my 3rd thin coat of 3M Polyester spot putty which should do the trick. I really like this product because it stands super easy. Leaves a super smooth surface and best of all it DOES NOT SHRINK over years and years of being displayed . 👍 Attachments:

Marching forward I had a couple hours yesterday to finish prep work , get my color coat down and decal transfers applied .. today I’ll be applying House of Kolors Kosmic Klear to seal the decals and protect them from chipping and discoloration . A lot of people ask me why I use these paints versus similar colors readily available in spray cans . Well , the colors offered by HOK can be tinted for an unlimited array of colors . So having a bottle of metallic purple doesn’t mean I have to paint this very shade .. they have intermix systems that allow unlimited colors .. and their Klear Kote system is 2:1:1 ratio where Other automotive paints use a 2:1 only .. the UV (non yellowing / fading characteristics of this paint and Klear is state of the art so your models stay exactly the way they were built with no sun fading or yellowing of the clear ..

This clear is amazing .. it does on super thin and super smooth ... the secret is 50% overlap on your initial coat to keep the surface texture smooth .. there are 3 coats with very little build and there’s no “step” where the decals are applied .. simply smooth all the way around ..

That's a really cool color on the body. I have come across several different gloss coat... apparently this one is best for using over decals as I have a lot of decals on a body. Knowing the fact that it will brittle or fall off over times sitting in the shelf. I need to find right type of clear coat to keep it in permanently.
I was looking over the internet on clear coat... there seems to be many types of coats or bottles... I cant decide which one is the right one. Would you be able to give us information on that HOK clear coat ... spray?
Thanks for sharing.

Depending on light the color picks up light changing the hue .. it is however purple ..lol as far as spray Brian it wouldn’t be the same as a 2-part or 3-part clear application .. you could Google “House of Kolors ready to spray “ and see what pops up. Like isnsaid they may offer a rattle can clear but it will not be equivalent to a 2 or 3 part simply because once mixed you have a limited time to apply before it starts to solidify ..
