I'm in the process of redoing the Box Art section by eliminating the misc threads and adding those manufacturers to their own threads . If you normally click on "Recent Posts" I apologize for mucking things up with all the new threads . It's been a while since the Box Art has been updated so that's what Happening this week , here's some of what I've collected that will be added . There are many more , mostly from the Japanese manufacturers , so there will still be a misc. thread to catch all of those . If you have anything to add now would be a good time so just post them here in this thread and I'll add them . Those of you that have sent me box art in the past "Thank You" and keep'em coming ! Happy New Year ! BOB .

After some discussion the "Ghost Of The Red Baron" has been added to "The List" and to the Box Art .
The Tom Daniel category has been split into two sections : Snap-Tites and Miscellaneous The Ghost Of The Red Baron is in the Miscellaneous section .

Yes this was a borderline call .. we figured serval Would jump on the band wagon and inlike the other TD kits this has no wheels and does not represent a physical ‘showrod’ which we direct to the Coffin Corner 2 site 🤘

I don't recall if I ever told you about a build-up article by Jim Bertges, of a 'toon model? It's in the #57 (Summer 2004) back issue of "Modeler's Resource" magazine. Pages 22, 23, 62 and 63 covered Jim's article. The limited edition resin model kit itself was called "Thunderpig" and it was a cartoon pig in a "surfer's" helmet, driving a customized and flamed, wheelie-pulling 1947 Dodgem (not a typo) bumper car. (Admins, just PM or email me, if you want me to scan that article in?) You can see more info here about a 1:1 scale bumper car; which inspired artwork; which inspired a kit. thunderpig.homestead.com/Some of the links seem to be broken, but I'm surprised (and pleased) the site itself is still there. A bit of additional research (cut-n-pasting two of the broken link's names into the "Wayback Machine" web archive of old web pages) shows a bit more about the kit's original release, who did it, and so on. (Some of the old web archives don't appear complete, but, again, I think it's cool that "Wayback" still has "any" of it. I think I got about half of the once-online photos, by manually clicking each of the archived old web pages; with some of the pages having more of the once-online photos than others; but none had them all.) Some kit work-in-progress and/or finished kit pics: web.archive.org/web/20050501000000*/http://home.earthlink.net/~inkfink/tpig/tpigkit.htmMostly "empty" archive pages (no pics) that probably showed the original 1:1 scale bumper car. web.archive.org/web/*/http://home.earthlink.net/~inkfink/tpig/newtpig.htmWayback Machine's archive of the once-site's links page: web.archive.org/web/*/http://home.earthlink.net/~inkfink/tpig/tpiglink.htm

Here's a scan (150 dpi) of the Box Art for the "Hawk" version of Satan's Crate (which I just got in, from Amazon dot com). I thought I'd never see this kit in person, let alone own a copy, so "Yay for re-pops!" ... and here is the box end, which shows a date of manufacture. ... and while I am scanning stuff, here's the instruction sheet (front and back).

Just saying, in case there is any interest, over here (?) in listing the modern-day "tooned" versions of World War Two tanks (mostly by a company called "Meng"). I got curious about that series while looking at a post by Fletch, about a book by AK Interactive, that showed a boatload of Meng kits; and a few other kits by Japanese kit-makers. Anyway, what I found is that doing a Google Image search on something like "Meng World War Toons" would show a lot of the individual kit's box art, for Meng's various tooned tank kits. www.google.com/search?q=meng+world+war+toonsAs far as I can tell, those tank kits by Meng are related to a video game. Per some press releases on the "news" portion of Meng's web site, the game's name is "World War Toons". Here's a game link: www.playstation.com/en-us/games/world-war-toons-ps4/Meng also has, or so my limited research indicates, some planes in a "Meng Kids" series. And there are a bunch of battleships in what appears to be listed as a "Warship Builders" category. Just saying. If those subjects are considered off-topic for this site, that's fine by me. I just got curious about how many of the kits were by Meng, when I noticed this book being mentioned, on this site: car-toons.proboards.com/thread/1471/build-toon-models-book

Actually they've been out for a while now and I have them in file along with a bunch of tooned ships and other war themed kits by Japanese companies , I just haven't added them yet . It's kind of a can of worms 'cause there are so many of these Japanese kits out there I doubt I could keep up to date . The Mid-Racers and Egg Planes are good example , they not only add new ones but they reissue a bunch every year with new box art . Now that I think about it the Meng Toon Tanks have been posted here somewhere , it might take some searching to find the threads .

Coolness, on the reply back, Mister TooOld, Sir! (But don't let me pull you away from playing with your Digger entry!) > It's kind of a can of worms 'cause there are so > many of these Japanese kits out there I doubt > I could keep up to date . The Mid-Racers and > Egg Planes are good example , they not only > add new ones but they reissue a bunch every > year with new box art . Yeah, I agree that's very likely gonna be an on-going problem ... so it occurs to me to wonder about a "two section split" by which I mean: "Stuff based in the United States" and "Stuff produced outside the US" -- with the latter probably being a bit behind, or even a lot behind, all of the time. (Sort of a "just picking your battles" kind of suggestion.) Just my two cents but if I were doing it, and doing a literal "list" (that is, a sort-able ASCII text-based, no pictures list: which I used to make a lot, when I was in another hobby, and tracking stuff like 1980's cartridge-based video games for certain game systems) I'd probably break things down by company name, BUT, with everything from Japan (for instance) listed with a prefix of a sort. ("Japan dash individual company name".) I'm thinking, that way, people here would know that part of the list may or may not "have it all". (Holler back, via email or PM, by the way, if you want me to play with doing just that: making a sort-able text-based list. I think you're using a Mac and I'm using PCs, but the actual "sorting" part of things doesn't have to be done, super-duper often. I imagine you'd be adding one or two names at a time, as new items came up? Just a thought, if you want me to play with that?) While I'm thinking of Box Art, I scanned in this image of the ThunderPig kit's art. This is a partial page scan, from the article in Modeler's Resource #57, by Jim Bertges (as mentioned a post or two above). Lemme know if you want me to scan in the whole article, and send it to you via email or some such? (I doubt Mr. Bertges would mind?)
