Ok .. I want to go accent shopping with you some time ..HAHAHA!! My gal won't hang around while I do my scavenging. It's mostly just creeping out the Michaels staff as I scan every nook and cranny, picking up items, staring at them, mentally visualizing their use, and calculating the cost (with coupon or discount)  .
As opposed to Dollar Tree, where I just pick up anything that might be usable. It's only a dollar!

So, some thick sheet PVC, a strip of thin PVC, and a little heat gets our darlin a more appropriate chapeau:
Slid in a buckboard dash from a spare Lil Stogie parts box.
Still deciding on the power source, may not be an actual engine |

Rigged some broomstick supports, and did some base coat painting.
Broom straw got a dark wash to bring out the detail.
