Don't think it's quite as simple as this chart shows. It doesn't point out that the USPS is taxpayer funded, so we could add that. It's not just a matter of box weight, but size & proportions also. Aaaaand on top of all that, I have had packages "handed off" by the USPS to UPS or FedEx, and vice versa, to do the final delivery. My house I lived in the last 16 years, was in a small town, and my front door was 400' from the street where my mailbox was. The package "delivery" from the post office was a freakin nightmare. The carrier would take my package with her in the truck, and NEVER even get out of her truck to deliver it- but ALWAYS put a notice in my mailbox, stating: "You have a package at the post office, because we tried to deliver it, but nobody was home...." Really aggravating situation that only one postmaster actually tried to do anything about; gave me a form to fill out requesting that any package I get- stays at the post office....and yet, my carrier STILL put it in her Jeep, and if I went to the post office to pick up my package- according to the notice she put in my mailbox- I was told that my carrier wasn't back from her route yet 😡😡🤬 Dealt with that crap for years. When I moved to my apartment last year, the package delivery has been incredibly pleasant.

While I agree they all do have problems you are incorrect on tax payer funded... U.S. Mail is protected by more than 200 federal laws enforced by the Postal Inspection Service, one of the nation's oldest law enforcement agencies. ... The Postal Service receives NO tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. As to the package location there is a form you can fill out telling them exactly where you wish your packages to be left on your property... I did that as my mailbox is way down the hill off the highway and they would be stolen there for sure before I ever saw them... I filled out the form and they drive up the hill now and leave them by my front door on my deck.

Thanks for the information, if indeed it really is. Over the years I have always heard conflicting "information"- which I believe is intentional. I understand that your wife works for the USPS,and don't doubt your information- from her. All any of us can truly say is what we know from our experiences with something, or someone, and whether those experiences line up with the "information" we have been given. I rarely ever had a good experience at my local post office, with the one older lady in particular. I honestly believe that there were times when I presented her with my package notice from my mailbox, and she immediately said my carrier wasn't back at HQ yet- just because she didn't feel like going back and looking for it. Sad to say, but I have to believe that many government entities treat the general public one way, and their own family members another way. Didn't know about the law enforcement thing for the postal service, and surely that is totally taxpayer funded, but whatever....

I had to ship an old Johhny Lightning track set from UPS as it was too big for the USPS . What a major hassle ! At first it seemed good as I paid and sent it from my work where UPS comes daily. After that , the box just disappeared . After a little over a week the buyer started asking where it was , and UPS couldn't tell me . All I got was that its "in transit" it finally arrived nearly two weeks later , the shipping box pretty battered but luckily the box inside set was still good. Luckily the buyer was patient , but I wont ship items from UPS ever again !

They all have their challenges but overseas is far worse from what my friends over there tell me... and Canada post is so bad we have people come across the border here and open po boxes in the states so they can do all their shipping here! It's crazy... oh well, back to building models my friends!!!

Just gonna leave this here... Not too long ago I bought a couple kits from my friends in Canada .. customs took their sweet time but items did arrive about a month later .. I can see why they’re opening PO BOXES in the states for themselves !
