I'm in the middle of a major build that may take a couple more months to complete but I wanted to start a Toon of some kind , something a bit simpler than my contest Toon . So it's time for a Zinger ! I've got a body and some pieces from a 1/43rd Willys diecast , an old VW Zinger and a Hemi from a Zinger Vette . The Hemi looks way too big so I'll probably use the engine from the VW unless I find something else , and I'll be changing the wheels & tires too . The next few days will be spent scrounging through boxes and boxes of junk looking for anything that might work . Stay Tooned !

First step is to remove all of the trim from the body . These things are tiny and I think I already lost the trunk handle , it either fell off while handling the body or it's here somewhere . . . not even gonna try to look for it ! After soaking overnight in a can of lacquer thinner and lots of scraping and scrubbing it's a bare steel body . I grabbed some wheels and tires to get some ideas . Not bad but I need to find smaller fronts , or bigger rears ! Also found Hemi that should fit nicely !

Thanks guys ! No real progress , mainly scrounging for parts . Found some better wheels & tires and did some cuttin' to fit the engine . Also found some headers from a Funster Chevy that should work with a little tweaking .

Seems like I'm always hunting for wheels & tires to get the "look" that I like . Not sure where these came from , they were in a small Ziploc bag marked Polar Lights . I had a couple funny car kits a few years ago that I swiped some parts from and then sold , maybe that's it .

Trying to keep it simple so it stays a quick build . While scrounging for wheels & tires I found some Vette Zinger parts that will work perfect ! I'm using the front of the Vette chassis (to mount the suspension) and the rear of the Willys chassis . With just a little shaping the new part fits right into the body . I'll add the front mounting hole so I can use screws to mount the chassis to the body . Moving on to the engine the water pump had to come off and some grinding was done to the bottom and sides of the block to make everything fit . I'm also going to mount the intake backwards from the photo so the blower is moved as far back as possible . Next the entire top of the hood had to be removed . With just a little trimming the belt and pulleys will fit too ! TA DAAA ! For the suspension I just added tubing to the axles and some mounting studs to the back off the wheels . Here the chassis is mounted with screws and the suspension is held in place with Tacky glue . Up on all fours for the first time ! I'm going to add some ladder bars along with the wheelie bars and headers . Time to start thinking about paint so I can finish this up !

Not much to show for this update except I cobbled together a set of ladder bars . Not much to them since they'll be mostly hidden from view when all is finished . And I got some paint work done !

Came up with an easy solution for the headers , these little chrome ones were in the box where I found the engine . I'll add the collectors from the old DW headers . Finished headers on the engine . Collectors are brush painted with Molotow . I'll be wrapping this one up shortly . Just for fun I made a driveshaft for it , will never be seen but what the heck !

When you first posted this, I thought you might be going hood-less, as the Stoned, Hood & Crooks kit did. Glad to see how you worked out the fitting!

I wasn't sure if it would fit at first , it was very close !
