After the Ch'El Camino, I thought I'd try something of a different style, a "Shorty", which isn't so much of a distortion as a subtraction. Starting with the Monogram 58 Thunderbird that comes with the custom bubble top,
I chopped the body by the width of the doors, as with most of my Deals Wheels Never Was customs.
Part of the build was directed by my picking up a couple of Hot Wheels Monster Jam cars (the Silhouette, actually) that came with some great oversized street wheels, instead of the usual off-road ones.
However, I only used the fronts as the back set, which should tell you how big (for a 1:50something) these wheels are.
Okay, I'm just gonna post some pics:
Everything else is stock. The back seats became the coupe seats. A bit of lift of the back end up to set off the big wheels and some recreated side body trim strip curves.
And a lid flip: Thanks for Lookin"!

Excellent !! I've always thought the '58 looked much better on a shortened chassis (like a '57) and it makes a great DW Never Was !

Now that is a classic DW cruiser if ever was. I can see “Dave” driving that and just cruising down a lazy winding 2- lane blacktop !
