Hello folks I came across looking in the evil bay and some are very scarce and rare kit ran up to a highest price at the end of the auction... I would like to hear your thoughts about which kits are the most scarce or rare. which kits you all think are the rarest?

If I’ve said it once I’ll say it a million times . eBay does not in any way determine a model’s value or price . You are dealing with an AUCTION .. and it all depends on which kit a FEW people are looking for at the same time . It doesn’t set the market price only what 2 people AT THE TIME were willing to pay for what ever reason .. I see many items that sold for an unexplainable amount which even supports my theory even further .. you get caught up in a bidding war and run an item up to a ridiculous amount doesn’t mean that’s what it’s worth .. it only means that what someone ended up paying .. as far as rarity goes I’d say this :

Personally, I'd lean towards the Super Spurt and Phony Car funny cars as the rarest of the bunch but I think I'm right in saying that Revell Japan issued some of the Deals Wheels kits and I imagine they would be really hard to find.

You know Harley I agree on your post as far as THE rarest of all .. my post was more directed towards price set . Using online auctions to determine value .. I guess in a way it does determine value but only between but a few that are bidding at that particular time .. I’m not being specific in any kit necessarily just that fact that many use eBay as the “standard” for Price setting .. “well the last one sold for $**** so that’s what mines worth”

Not sure if these count since the aren't in the Deal's Wheels series but are slightly retooled Revell reissues , but the Lil Herbie and the Funster Bug are really hard to find

It probably shouldn't but it does always make me smile when a kit realises a lot of cash on Ebay and there's a sudden flurry of the same kit being offered - all wanting to cash in on the original auction's high price. Sorry, folks, auctions don't work like that! Whoever the winner was, they're unlikely to be interested in another and whoever was the runner up didn't want to pay that top dollar.
