And the first step of that journey is to unpack my Toons after many years in storage.
Many Model Show appearances, along with a few house moves have not been kind to the models.
Most of them have fragile bits sticking out all over them. Despite plenty of bubble wrap, many parts have busted off.
I have a long list of models needing repairs. The repairs range from refixing a wheel or two right through to full strip downs and complete rebuilds.
In the pictures above, King Kongs Thronester needs a complete revamp.
I painted the Thronester body with yellow glitter nail varnish and the stuff is peeling off in sheets. Twenty plus years of temperature changes probably caused that. A new paintjob is underway along with new paint for Kong. I originally finished him in black, drybrushed with dark grey. This time around I've decided on a very dark brown, using oil paints scrubbed over the old finish. So far, so good.
Frankenstiens Fliver and Godzillas Go Kart are pretty much complete, needing paint touch ups in the main. The others need work ranging between the two extremes. There are three storage boxes worth of models here. There's another couple still to go but it might be a good idea to deal with this lot first.
Now the models are out in the fresh air again, I'll be working on getting them back to displayable condition.
Watch this space...

At the risk of stating the obvious, I think you've got a pretty understanding (and appreciative) audience for the work which lies ahead!

Good luck! I went through the whole house moving thing just over five years ago and it is an ordeal for sure. This is a good time to get re-acquainted with all those good memories. Looks like you got a good batch there.

I moved all my large collection of unbuilt kits to my parents house as I am keeping it... Had to remove all things my parents left. Emptying up all to bare bone and set it solely for the kits itself. Whoa.. a lot to do when I retire from work in two more years. I also have a curio cabinet of all old works I did including those I posted here. Displaying proudly and looks as if it came out of the workbench.
Its a wonderful feeling when you get to pull up and seeing all the old builds you did and want to revive the memories you had in the past. Its a nice time to enjoy your hobby.

Thanks Guys, the models are certainly bringing back memories by the bucketload. One odd thing, a Francis the Foul model had survived with no damage. He's probably the most fragile of the lot as well, what with his long legs and all. Francis, the Ref and the ball are all removable from the base which helped it survive intact. The base is MDF with stripwood laid over it, varnished and then lined.
