I was looking for another quick build and decided on the Zzzzz28 kit . I've got several of these but have never actually built one , I always cut them up for parts to make "Never Was" builds . I want to more closely replicate Dave's box art so a few minor changes are in order . First is the addition of the blower from a "Roarin'Rail" and a 1/16 scale scoop . Second I tucked the tires under the body and am adding different wheels . The axles were glued in place , the inner wheels drilled out and stubs shortened . Here's how I modified the kit part to move the rear tires in as far as possible .

Making the model car accurate to the pictures says thousands of words. Looking forward to completion.

Until you see projects like this, it's easy to forget how far removed the actual kits could be from the box art. Great idea for a project.

Thanks Brian , Harley , and Chuck ! Don't know how epic this is . . . not planning much in the way of extra detailing . At first I was cutting up an AMT body to redo the DW body but then I tossed it back in the box , getting lazy these days .

So I found some really nice Z28 wheels , they cost a couple of bucks but I had to have them ! Spent most of this week working on the body and spraying some color , it's Tamiya TS-31 which is very close to Hugger Orange . Here's some test pieces I did a several years ago comparing TS-31 to Model Master Hugger Orange .

As close as it gets !! It’s looking great with your body corrections .. nice work Bob .. Thanks Chuck ! No real changes just filling and sanding . A little more progress . . . I printed my own stripes , the ones in the kit are terrible ! And I detailed the wheels and tires . Been a long time since I tried painting the tire lettering , it hasn't gotten any easier .

I always thought the biggest issue with the kits were exactly that .. those pesky tires and faint lettering

Bless your hide for putting in the lettering effort! Lord knows I don't have a good hand at it. If you look at my build history, you see white walls occasionally, but that's the extent of it.

Thanks for the replies . I knew better than to try painting the lettering but guess I had a brain fart and tried anyways . Now I'm trying to decide whether to leave them alone or clean it all off !

I think the lettering looks great Bob and I like the detail work you did on the wheels too.
