I watched a lot of Can Am racing growing up and my favorites were the Chapparals and the McLarens . I absolutely love this kit ! My plans are for a slick Orange paint job and as many original Can Am markings as I can . A few missing pieces but it shouldn't be a problem . This one is getting started real soon !

Those of you old enough to remember the original Auto World should know that founder Oscar Koveleski successfully raced a McLaren in the Can Am series . The early cars were sponsored by Auto World with slot car graphics , while the later winged cars had Jerobee RC Cars sponsorship . I'm going to build the McLapper with the earlier slot car graphics while retaining the wing for the "Cool" factor ! The first step is to make some decals for it . I'm starting those tonight and will post them as soon as they are finished . Stay tuned !

Its a cool kit and it looks like you have a great start to build one ! You wouldn't be interested in selling/trading/etc - the decals would you ? I have a Mclapper that I'm restoring the Dave Deal way, and I'm missing the decal sheet. I had a orange #54 AFX slot car when I was a kid .Unless it was on the Wide World of Sports , I didn't get to see any racing of any kind though

Very Cool! I've only seen this on line! GB barten Thanks GB ! It took me all day but I finally got a sheet of decals made up . I have a new Vector program and this is my first try at designing decals , I'm pretty happy with how they turned out . I plan on painting this weekend and applying them !

Those Auto World decals came out really nice -I'm looking forward to seeing the finished build !

Great Decals Bob! Thanks Ira ! Disassembly was tougher than I expected , there's always more glue in places you can't get to ! Only 1 casualty , one of the fender mirrors and it can be pinned and installed okay . I've got everything cleaned up and in primer , hopefully it will be orange again by Monday !

Nice... In my head I have one of these built with oval tires and wheels like in motion on the box art. Maybe from a Snap Draggin kit. You would be the guy to do it especially after seein' your Lil' Bug. Smokey

I do have a surprise in store for later though . It's about noon here and I'm ready to spray some orange paint ! Later .

After stripping yesterdays paint job ( nasty color ) I repainted it today with Chevrolet Engine Orange . It turned out pretty nice and should look good when it's all trimmed out ! It's not quite as dark as it looks in the photo .
