About a year ago I started a WIP that just fizzled out and went nowhere ! Since then I've continued to hunt for parts and when I looked the other day I was surprised to see that I actually have every single part to build the complete model !  So this week I'm going to start cleaning up the pieces and spraying some paint to build a custom , and maybe add a few other little details . When it's finished it will be displayed along side my "mint" Li'l Red Baron ( see my avatar ) just like my Thunder Bugs ! Here's what I'm starting with . . .  I'll admit I'm a sloooow builder , but this one is gonna get done !  |

cool stuff!! I am going through the fizzle stage right now..lol.. I always have good intentions but rarely have time during the summer months to build anything of any magnitude.. I'm an early fall, winter, early spring builder and stuff like this keeps my blood pumping in the event I DO get some fun time in the summer..!!  Go Bob Go !!

Well , I REALLY am working on this . . . I've got all the mold seams sanded and the parts primered . I like to use white primer under the body color for a smoother finish , everything else gets gray primer .  I don't really have any plan yet , except for red paint and some Alcad chrome . I've been thinking for a long time about a way to detail the tires in all the Tom Daniel snap kits , so maybe this is a good time to try it ! I think I'll do that next and see if it works . . . Stay tuned ! |

So here's my first attempt at adding a little something to these plastic tires . . . not bad but not exactly what I was wanting , it's kind of sloppy .   I've still got a "Plan B" that I'll try tomorrow . Good thing is that I can fill it all in , sand it down , and still have the stock tire ! |

After thinking about this for awhile I decided to continue with this tire instead of going to plan B . First I added a 1/8th" spacer between the inner and outer tread patterns . . . then after reinforcing inside the tire I used a file and flattened the top and rounded the inside shoulder . Last , I used modeling clay to form the inner tire wall . A lot more work involved than I had planned but after it's cleaned up and painted it just might work . Here's my new tire compared to the stock kit tire .  |

Well Bob.. I think you're on a roll here bud .. I love what you're doing to the tires.. and it's these subtle differences that make big changes in the appearance .. I'd say you're spot on with this one
