Some "out of the box" suggestions:
(1) Quick "warm-up" projects which are unrelated-to-anything-you're-serious-about might help. Something partial; not a complete project. Mainly something that's totally off of your mental menu of "should builds". I've found that even just practicing a technique you've read about in a book or whatever, without intending to "finish" anything, feels good. I've found that if I go into my shop area and just sit down, and then do basically anything just to get my hands busy, the rest may come naturally. If not, nothing lost ... but as a rule, if I can talk myself into going into the shop, and "just do something, even if it's wrong" that primes the pump.
(2) And also: having Spritz by Fritz DVD's running in the background. They're a great distraction from what you're doing, if you have something going on that's so easy to do that it's boring (like sanding or putty'ing, etc.) and you only really have to half-pay-attention to the task at hand. And/or they're easy to listen to, for the twenty-seventh (just kidding!) time; if you're just looking to sort of change-up the expected "same old, same old" shop atmosphere.
(3) If you want to "produce" something, or sort of feel that you have to, but you just aren't in the mood to work on model kits, why not remodel your shop areas? You could do a little or do a lot; depending on mood / funds / available time / etc. You could re-paint the whole room, and go to town re-organizing everything ... or just spend part of a single day giving your workbench a cool-looking racing stripe. All up to you. Maybe set up a card table and a cheapie plastic lawn-and-patio chair in a corner, while you're re-vamping and/or hot rodding the room / bench / whatever ... just in case you suddenly get into the mood to work on a model kit ... with the different table and chair serving the purpose of putting your mind in a different place, when you do sit down to build something. In other words, you may want to change the space you work in, or the routine you have ... since maybe the problem is that you're bored with the room or the routine; not the hobby. If you set a goal of making your work space really kick butt, and take some steps in that direction, while also seriously (and intentionally) "down-grading" your area for building stuff, you may motivate yourself from two directions at once. That it: the card table will be something you'll be glad to no longer do, at some point ... but if you're re-inventing your "serious" desk or bench area, at the same time, you'll have something other than "same old same old" to look forward to, when it's done.
Just kickin' some ideas around, in hopes of breaking the temporary log jam ...

Chuck, you are not only one. I been in that bowl so many times... especially having kids in my family that requires attention and needs to meet. I get to work on model kits on and off times ... sometimes delaying my time completing a project. So I decided to restrict myself to just two model kits and yes, its a hard trip for me but I have accomplished in completing them. I rearrange the space, moved some work place making more rooms. Also organization really helps. It kind of gives me the freedom to work there and being able to know where things are...isolate a messy area in one spot and small.. I had the chance getting several storage containers, drawers and all in one place. So I guess maybe, the organization and making a work space open is something that will motivates you. You could also add a computer next to you or on the other side of the room... perhaps a small tv keeping you busy and hearing all the "people" chattering ...
I may call that a " mans cave"
Just a thought.

I guess this has always been an issue... Jostling schedules, kids, and home projects .. These things always seem to eat away our "free" time ... I'm glad you are finding creative ways to get your projects prioritized and figuring ways to build!! This is inspirational to me as well !! Hang in there bud -
