AT Speeder!I thought it would be Fun to mix up the AT-AT and the Snow Speeder. They are very different scales, the AT-AT is close to HO Scale and the Snow Speeder is 25th scale. The pilots from the AT-AT would be about 3/4 of an inch tall the Snow Speeder Pilots are about 3 inches tall. Looks like an original Snow Speeder from the 1970's, the poor old box is almost worn out.  I started by cutting off the Snow Speeder Wings.  I was going to use these Wings on the Vette Jet but I ended up making New Vette Jet Wings so these Wings will go back on the Speeder.  More Coming...

They're Back!I used a large sanding block to sand the edge of each section flat. I tried to sand them in such a way that the sides fit together even and flat. Zap-A-Gap, Green Label, was used the glue the body panels together.  The Wing Sections are now new Body Sections. Here it is with the top in place.  Rear View...  More Coming...

Top Mods!I felt the visibility from the cockpit was somewhat limited so I decided to do a little cutting and carving. I marked the areas that I wanted to remove.  Here is the rear view. I used a Cut-Off Wheel to make the main cuts then an X-axto knife to clean up. Next I used Sanding Boards and files to even up the lines.  I also removed the forward window post. Now the drivers visibility is much better.  More Coming...

Cannon Bulkheads!I'm using the tops of the Cannon Bulkheads to add detail on the sides. I'm not going to use the Cannon Mounts, so that the pieces will lay flat on the body. I glued the Flap in place and cut down the piece as shown.  Here are the pieces glued down flat, in place.  Both sides done...  More Coming...

Front Bulkhead Mods!I'm going to mount the Front Bulkhead Top a little lower than the Rear Bulkhead Top. So, I removed the Mounting Ridges from the Body and the back side of the Tops.  Then I cut the Top Pieces as shown. I am not using the Cannon Mounting Pieces, so the Tops will lie Flat on the body.  I attached the upper sections first, then I measured and cut the lower sections. After a little more fitting and sanding I glued the Pieces in place as shown.  More Coming...

Speeder Underbody!I am making an Underbody for the AT Speeder with sheet plastic. I did the measuring and drew the cut lines.  I cut out the Underbody with an X-acto Knife and a Steel Ruler. You just pull the Knife along the Ruler a few times then break off the excess. It's like cutting glass...  Here it is glued in place.  I also cut out two triangle shapes from sheet plastic. These filled the two triangular areas in the front.  More Coming...

WIDER!I decided to make the AT-AT Legs two inches wider. The Legs will fit just inside of the AT Speeder Body. I started by cutting the Leg Mounts in half.  I cut some one inch lengths of plastic tubing that fit over both ends of the cuts.  Then I attached the Tubing with Zap-A-Gap, CA Glue. The front unit is finished. Next I'll do the same to the rear unit.  More Coming...

LOWER!This is the Underside of the AT-AT. I cut off the tops of the Drive Unit Mounts with a Cut-Off Wheel. I removed about 1/4" of plastic so the Legs will fit 1/4" higher up into the body.  Using a Drum Sander I rounded the top of the mounting area.  More Coming...

Drive Units!The AT-AT Underbody is a little too long for the AT Speeder so I cut about 3/4 inch off the back end.  The Rear Drive Unit was also a little long so I cut some off the end.  Here are the Drive Units glued in place on the Underbody. I moved the Front Drive Unit a little forward to increase the wheel base.  More Coming...

Save That!I decided to use the Rear Section of the AT-AT Underbody that I cut off. I'm going to use it on the front of the AT-AT Underbody. I also added a strip of plastic so I can glue the screen in place later.  Here is the Rear Section and the Strip glued in place. This will be an Intake Vent in the front of the AT Speeder. Fixing a Hole...The Huge Heat Sink on the back of the Speeder has an open back. I am going to fill the open section with sheet plastic. I cut a rectangle plastic shape and then I carved it to fit inside of the Heat Sink.  Here it is in place.  More Coming...

BiG Feet!
The AT-AT Feet are very Big. I decided to reduce their width and height. I started by cutting off the sides of the feet.  Next I used an X-acto Knife and a foam sanding board and cleaned up the cuts.  More Coming...

New Sides!I cut out a piece of plastic to fill the side of one of the Feet. Then I traced it seven times for all of the sides.  Here is the piece glued in place. Next I went ahead and glued the other seven pieces in the sides of the Feet.  More Coming...
