This is going to be a box stock build and my second GoMad will be a full custom . I've never done a box stock since I was a kid ( except for some TD Snappers )so we'll see how it goes ! I started early this morning by cleaning up the flash and mold lines on all of the parts , they're not all that bad but I still spent two hours doing it . Guess I've got some kind of disorder ! After scuffing the body I sprayed it with Duplicolor White primer followed by one coat of Tamiya TS-52 Candy Lime Green . I might spray one more coat but from past experience it's not going to get much darker . Well , so much for box stock ! I've always had a problem with the Deals Wheels tires and I just can't stand having them sticking out so far , so I chopped up the bottom to move them in as far as they would go . They are still going to be wider than I like but I'll try it and see how they look . This feels like it's going to be a quick build so I'll post more real soon !

Before I quit last night I got all of the painting finished . I thought Rincon Ron needed a cheap ring to wear ! I also tinted the rear windows like the box art . I just brushed some Clear Yellow on instead of breaking out the airbrush . One issue I've always had with the DW 57 Chevy is that the front axle isn't centered in the wheel openings . A quick fix for this box stock build was to just turn the springs around , not a perfect fit but it'll work . The only thing I haven't decided yet is what to do with this giant hood scoop . I found a smaller one in the Baron Fundekker kit , but I don't really want to steal it from a complete kit ! All that's left is some BMF on the body and this one's about done . . . definitely a record for me !

Hi Bob, Nice looking color. I agree, always thought the tires stuck out too far even for a cartoon car, tubbing it does get it truer to the box art, and same on centering the ft. wheels. Good tip on reversing the springs. I was mocking up my Bel-Air and I used the spare sguare scoop from the Polar Lights Snap-Draggin 33 Willys. It's not a bad fit, if you have any extra of those. Might be better than robbing your other from a complete (rare) kit.

Thanks Jim , I've got a Snap Draggins '33 Willys so I'll take a look at the scoop ! I might just use the kit scoop on this one and find something better for my next GoMad .

Some great colors, there. I used something similar to the Candy Lime on my original Glitter Bug.
I may do that tub inset thing on the 53 Panel (works better than narrowing the tires, and then having to rework the hubs to fit). I'll have to consider the front spring dilemma as well.

Thanks ! The tubbed rear worked out pretty good , it looks a lot better with the tires tucked in . I was kind of sloppy with my work on this one but if you do it right it should look like it came that way !
