Wow. I can't wait to see issue #35 of "Sci-Fi & Fantasy Modeller". It's not out yet, but it should be out soon.

I'm a big fan of that publication, anyway, and I have been for years ... but that issue looks extra-cool, to me. Why? As you can see from their preview photos from that issue, at the link above: they apparently had one of their writer / builders do a rather detailed build / review article on the "Stoned Hoods and Crooks" cartoon car kit, which was semi-recently released by Moebius. They won't have the pics online, forever -- (probably just until the next regular or special issue comes out) -- but right now, their web previews show two "sneak peek" pages from that article. (Full color. Lotsa pics. Etc. The usual stuff SF&FM does with all their articles.)
I'm jealous! (And stoked!)
Heck, I write build-up articles for those guys, from time to time -- (for example, I have several articles in their just-released "Horror and Monster" special issue) -- but I had no idea, until I saw those web previews earlier today, that they would ever include such a detailed review of any kind of a cartoon kit!? From private conversations in e-mail, I knew that their "special issue" editor, Andy Pearson, personally has fond memories of things we 'toon and 1960's custom car (Roth, etc.) and 'toon monster car, etc., fans love so much ... but I had no idea that I'd ever see a build-up article along those lines, in the pages of those fancy bookazines they put out. I'm happy to see they're on a very fun, if rather slippery slope, now! (As one of their occasional writers, I'll definitely be bugging them to see if they would be willing to do other articles on future 'toon models. The upcoming Egg-plane Colonial Viper, for instance, was on my "wish list" as an upcoming kit, anyway.)
Thank you, Moebius, for releasing that "Stoned Hoods and Crooks" car / monster kit!
... and "thumbs up" to the folks at "Sci-Fi & Fantasy Modeller" for running such a detailed, colorful, multi-page article on a 'toon monster car!
