Great call on buildin' a Baldwin car. Great start by knockin' the nose back. Doin' one of these as a Chaparral is on my mental list. I'm glad to see you gettin' started with the build.

Hello Folks.... Back from taking my kid to summer camp for quite some times... I had the chance to work a little on that model car on and off times... I had struggled with working on the hood scoop to fit in... a Member of this forum, tooold, offered me a hood which I knew would work very well so he was willing to send me a piece. He's a life saver! Thanks Robert. I spent time a while ago today working on modifying the hood, measuring the scoops to fit on since the hood itself is quite big so I had to cut with scissor and it was easy working with it!. Had the final decision to get it fitted in. Hooray! and added the spoiler on the back to give a strong character of the car. Will probably be working on adding the spoiler on bottom of the nose scoop. First I need to work on putting the putty on and sanding the nose. Hers a photo for now Will continue working on this this week hopefully... I am off from work this week so I have a chance to continue working on it. More to come

Thanks Robert. I am continuing my work on details around the body of the car... in progress... Figuring out the spoiler details on back... with that character it adds a lot on the car... just simply adding the flaps on back.. Looking forward to painting colors on them. I add a piece of styrene strip... round one and it really works well making it contoured. you could compare the different with the previous pic and this one. Sanded the grill... looks as if its coming out ... and added putty on spoiler and will might add more after sanding... more to come

Hello folks again... It has been a while for me today doing all the revision and am still working on them... relaxing my day out.. I created several scratch built items to add to the car... The car needs a modified exhaust rather than all these found in the parts box... most of them are not cartoon related so I have to create something with that and making it into a cartoon like version. 1. I took a tube from styrene and burn slightly to make it soft and then bend them to the size I could. Took me a while and a number of mistakes and finally got to the best I can. 2. I cut them to create a curved exhausted after it cools down. 3. I use round styrene and is all solid, no hollow tubes and is a lit easier to bend when its hot. I glued all four with epoxy and put all four in the large hollow tube and let it dry solid. 4. Voila, I got to the design I wanted, I then saw off the end and it will be placed on side of the car... which is a bit of an illusion having an exhaust onto the car. It will be painted with alclad chrome, which will be done later on. As you may have seen that I have done a lot of work today and did a lot of what I wanted... Placing wheels and cutting rims to rim the thickness... You could see the exhaust sitting there.. and is cut off. The large white flat styrene will be used to create a spoiler for the bottom of the car on front. Took me a while to get to the right angle to fit in under. I will then probably add one more items which would be split bumper which I can see is missing from the car and even from the kit. whew a lot more ahead more to come

Thanks, chuck.... a lot of time has been invested on working with tires and inner wheels... time consuming... but worth it in the end. There is more to work on... Like I mentioned about split bumpers, and spoilers in bottom... this may take a bit more time working... Then on to the primer and sanding stage. Paint.. will probably be like the one in the beginning.. Have not decided the color yet. Also will be working on adding some foundation in behind the scoop since its kind of free standing so it may needs something to hold on to... so it will be in the process anyway. I have seen a lot of flaws in designing the body and how it should look more like a real camaro in 70s comparing to this original work.. I didn't like the original one, especially the grill. It kind of ruins the face of the car. The bumper is never added to it and I believe it was something may be forgotten or it was too low and doesn't look right. OH well... At least it's not very hard to make and have to scratch build to suit right.

Yeah, fixing to fit the spoiler is quite time consuming.. I used a piece of paper and tried with another kit of this same and used the front part to trace the line... but its a start so I trim a bit by bit to fit. Then finally with that set, I have to decide how deep the spoiler should be.. I have to build the whole wheels and chassis for the body to sit and decide the depth of the spoiler . So right now, what you see on here is still in middle of the trimming. I will explain more details on the process with the spoiler in the next few replies. Take a look at this picture to give you an idea how I started off... Yes, youre a life saver for hood scoop. I am glad that you bought it up and it turned out just right on nose. I may get to ask you for a few more later on.

Hello again.. still working on it.. and done quite a lot more... 1. I finally put all the wheels and tires together and shortened the side.. looks really great and tested to see if it looks just right. The edge is just by the rim which I want to be that way 2. I scratch built the split bumper to put on the sides/front of the car and it took me about an hour. You may noticed the flat part which is a template I used to help me guide and then sand, scrape with a machine scraper to remove excess corners and edges, then smooth up making it much alike. Now the hardest part is how will I put them on, I have to figure that out a bit later. 3. as you may have noticed the previous pic which shows the excess flat plastic thing for spoiler on bottom... comparing to really trying figuring how to set to an angle and then make a line to blend with the bottom. TOUGH work! 4. Gosh finally. took me a while to really test fit and cut/trim and making it right, comparing with the photo in references. Looking good!, still have to figure how am I gonna get it set on the body... may have to think on that in my engineering department in my brain More to come.

Getting there... its on a clay to hold the bumpers to test it.... I have to figure how to put something to hold the bumpers unto.. Glued the spoiler... oh man hectic job. putting the strands in behind the spoiler to stabilize them.. this is why you see the stick sticking out on both sides more to come..
