hello toon-heads... We have a bitter sweet issue to address... We are reaching our maximum storage limitations on attachments !! We've grown!!! There are several attachments that are of ultra high photo quality resolution driving the file sizes extremely high taking up precious bandwidth... I am going to remove some of the larger files to allow the highways to run smooth... This is NOT directed at anyone as a personal attack.. Meanwhile I thought about looking into purchasing more monthly bandwidth but this too will eventually "fill up" so we are in a catch22 in a sense and cause an added expense for a temporary fix... This is also posted as an announcement on the board and will disappear automatically in 2 days... If you see a photo missing from a post feel free to REPOST AT A SMALLER FILE SIZE.. Most of the pictures exceeding 300kb need to be deleted... We have some over 1000-1200 MB which adds up in a hurry.. Sorry for an inconvenience this may cause... Thanks for your understanding !

Unfortunately this is a common problem on forums where members regularly attach photos directly from their computer . Sooner or later the bandwidth gets used up and nobody can post their photos anymore and the only fix is to start deleting photos in order to free up more space . The best solution is for everybody to use a photo hosting site like Photobucket or Fotki and download all of their photos to that site . They are free and offer enough storage to last most of us several years . I've been using my Photobucket account for four years and still haven't used all of my storage space ! If anyone needs help or has questions about using a Photobucket account just shoot me a PM .

I didn't like Photobucket at first... As a matter of fact I HATED all the photo hosting sites.. But had it NOT been for having one I would have lost many pictures due to PC crashes over the years.... No one likes "change" in their daily dose of Internet travels but unfortunately it's a necessary evil.. I looked into buying more monthly bandwidth but in addition to generating another (monthly) bill to pay it would only delay the problem making it necessary to eventually delete photos down the road.. So it wasn't a "fix" only a temporary bandaid... Regardless of bandwidth / storage space it has to be cleaned sooner or later.. Just like the model bench ... Keeping our posting limits to 300 kb per pic would be awesome.. If a photo is posted and exceeds that single photo limit it may warrant deletion without notice.. This isn't personal fellas , we just need to be more proficient in our posting habits and keep things running like a fine oiled machine... Continue posting away but please check the settings on your cameras and cellphones .. There's also FREE photo resizing programs available as well ... Thanks to everyone for their understanding during our growing spurt !!

You know, we all like to look back at several pictures we posted. And since a lot of them have seen these, we could delete each different forums. For example we can have these forum on lists as long as perhaps 6 months and when things kind of slows down. We can down size them.
If each of us want to keep these photos on the forum, there can be a gallery we can refer to. Say, we have a permament link to a photobucket or fotki. The administrator can collect and post it up there with a year in a folder in the page at either photobucket or fotki. We members or guest can click a permament link in the forum page and enjoy these photos outside for viewing or research. Along with a some information of who built this and what date posted, etc.
This might will save you some monthly expenses and keep things low And free.
just a thought.

I've had 2 "private" FREE photo bucket accounts for many years and I'm not crazy about them or Fotki. I recently added a photo hosting site called Picasa 3 (still learning how to use it) but you guys might want to take a look at it as an option, it does have some editing features I like. Does Pro Boards offer an auto resizing feature that could be added? In other words.....if a person was to load a hi-res pic from their 'puter as an attachment it would be auto re-sized to whatever kb the admin. deems neccesary before it's posted.

I've looked into Picasa before and it has lots of editing features and is popular with photographers , but it doesn't actually give you any storage space . It looks at the photos on your computer and allows you to edit them , but if your computer crashes your photos are gone . I always keep my Photobucket files "Private" so that nobody can view them , and only use it for my models . I don't use it as a social site to share photos with the rest of the world . And yes , I've had problems with it in the past , but it always turned out to be something on my computer causing the problem or compatibility settings with Internet Explorer . Since I switched to Chrome it has worked flawlesly ! ProBoards doesn't have any photo editing features . If you need to resize photos before attaching them you can use MS Paint to do it . Of course if you have photos downloaded to Photobucket they can be any size you want since your post won't use any bandwidth on the Car-Toons Board .
