Here is an old 1974 AMT kit that I finally got around to finishing. This is another garbage kit that I can not recommend to anyone!

I actually saw one of these on ebay a few months ago and almost went for it , but then decided against it . It's different for sure , but your painting skill really makes it look good !

Hey Bubbajoe - what makes this a cruddy kit is the parts fit. They must have really hurried these to the market. And the putty work needed to fill in all the seams is tremendous. For example - none of the locating tabs were correct so you have to remove them. If you were to glue the assembled legs to the body using the locating tabs then one leg would be way shorter than the other and the whole thing would lean way over. Plus no matter what you do the feet still do not sit flat on the ground - they sit on the outside edges. Looks like the rear wheels on a lowered VW! I had to pie cut the feet at the ankles (and move them out a quarter inch) to get them to sit flat-footed. The body is almost 13 inches long so that means it was divided in sections to fit it in the box. The styrene is kind of on the soft side so in order for all the sections to not crack (which they did the first go around) I had a lot of strengthening to do and a whole lot of putty on each joint. A whole lot of putty! Then the halves of every part do not join up right like the dino's eyes do not match up if you get all the rest lined up. Same thing goes for the really badly molded arms and even Fred did not line up. Lots of putty! Big terrible gap is on one side all the way along the spiked fins. Lots of putty! And the whole jaw connection will require a bit of engineering to figure out. Plus some sort of attachment for the rope needs to be worked out. And a lot of putty!
The sports car which I had years ago was the same but required a lot less putty. But the fit still sucked on Fred and Dino. The terrible fit is what must have been why we never see these kits built. Must have frustrated a lot of kids back in '74.
There are a bunch of all three for sale on the evil site right now if you are in for a challenge!

Yikes! Doesn't sound at all like kids would vouch for the "fun to assemble" advertisement on the box art!
Lotsa points to ya, though, for finishing it and letting us see what a built-up of that kit looks like!
And as others have already said -- very cool looking, toon-appropriate paint job, Mr. Fletch sir!

You know these are great for getting out of a building slump... I've got the intire Snoopy collection.. And I'm thinking about building them CLOSE to box stock.. Maybe a nice House of Kolors yellow on Snoopy's Sopwith and a nice Kandy red on the Barons plane... I built the Buggatti straight out of the box... But the motorcycle with sidecar might get a unique paint job but I haven't ventured that far just yet.. Still pondering....
