not much progress this week,...i just finished filling in the seams and sanding...today i primed...hoping to have sometime this weekend for color.i'll post pics as soon as i have anything painted...thanks for asking

Sigh..having all sorts of trouble with this build....one of the seams on the arms split open...had to sand the primer off and re glue...i 'm trying to pick a different color for each weird oh i'm building. louie is going to be yellow...first go round was a bit too yellow .just repainted him with a darker mustard yellow, still not sure i like it and i can't get the eyes right.i'm just not very inspired with louie right now.

Yeah that happens , Murphy strikes all of us at one time or another . . . and with the forums slowing down this time of year it's very hard to keep motivated . I usually mess with another build for a few days until I get motivated again . Hang in there !  |

Hey, Bubbajoe, sometimes our plastic buddies just don't cooperate. The engine or motor needs work as does the boat? Chin up buddy, there's toons to be built.
Built a boat out of card stock & scotch-tape this afternoon that will become a plastic one. It will have an evancrude engine on it & mooring dock.

I refer to these stumbles as "learning curves"... We all hit these little stumbles (I did on Suicide Sam) ... We just work through them as time permits... Heck I've even got "feet issues" with my latest "thou shalt drag" project... Sometime these little toons can be stubborn... You'll recover I have faith !!! |

i appreciate the encouraging words gents... very much appreciated...the mistakes and blunders aren't getting me down ,heck i even expect it in a build..i'm just lost. if that makes sense . i can usually find a direction i want to take a build and what i want to do with it and how i would like it to turn out....now most times in the course of a build it may take another turn and head down a completely different route.. but for some reason ole louie is dead in the water and waiting for GPS to find him and take him home....i'm just focusing on the mistakes right now and brooding over what to do next. Anyways..don't want to sit and ditch  i'm sure i'll figure it out ..i think i may need to take a little breather from louie and maybe start something else...i always start and finish one build at a time but i think this time i need to do something else to work on to get the juices flowing again.... as soon as i have anything i feel is worth posting i'll show the progress on him. |

Rained all day here on saturday.. heavy storm took out the internet and cable for most of the day ...so it was a very good day for modeling. spent almost 6 hours sitting at my desk , it was a very good day finished goldie... base coat of bright orange craft paint..then sealed with a clear coat,then dark wash then 2 coats of clear yellow    finished the cattails ..bamboo sticks ,pipe cleaners for the heads, dollar store greens for the leaves   base is almost done...3 colors of blue craft paint then a little white hi lights then clear blue and green. sand for the edging no fishin sign..brown base, cracking medium, white craft paint..my lovely wife s handwriting.  motor almost finished i still need to add the pipes...2nd time doing this one..i pretty much expect to mess up something in a build it was the outboard this time...i used rustoleum for a primer and top coat and for some reason the top coat peeled off the primed when i removed the take after painting it with the red...back in the baggy of oven cleaner for a do over...2nd time i used krylon(I LOVE THIS PAINT) no problem this time...small band of BMF..did it the first try..yeah me!!  and good ole louie is almost finished.. he got a hair piece over and hour to cut and fit his wig   little stash and goatee 
 i used cloth tape for his life vest. painted with craft paint then added the ties.. i didn't like the drink that came with the kit so made one out of a clear ink cartridge a pen and some clear glue with a little clear yellow paint mixed in.  still need to do the water and decal the boat.thanks for looking |
