That wet look black is BEAUTIFUL!! What primer and paint did you use before the Future? And as to the BMF, sometimes it does take some finessing, especially on kits like this that have such broad expanses of chrome to cover. Those little wrinkles and dimples drive me nuts. Just can't bury them under clear coat and polish. And I like the redlines, but you still have final say

thanks gents.. i appreciate the kind words...Yeah . I'm leaning towards the redlines ,they look sharper..i used rustoleum gray primer... krylon satin black ..2 coats of each, sanding in-between coats... then i literally poured the future over the model and held my breath... i used a q tip to catch any drips along the edge... one coat to seal the paint...one coat to seal the BMF...didn't get to do much the past weekend ,except some work on the interior and i did paint the drivers head and one hand..i'll post photos as soon as i can

I have to agree that the black paint looks super nice , nothing wrong with pouring the Future right over it ! It will look sharp no matter which wheels you choose !

Gotta add that in agreement that the future pouring over the car and holding the breath hoping it gives results. You did quite a challenge, and now its my turn.. Gonna try that Mind if I ask? where you find that redline wheels?

thanks.... I had to think for a minute on redlines... they came off os a M2 die cast truck i picked up last year sometime... it came with 2 sets of tires ,2 engines, 2 sets of rims, you put it together.. i used 1 set form the digger build (whitewalls) . I had a bit of a disaster last week.. while applying the decals .i noticed that after a few minutes there was a white patch growing under each decal and the decals were wrinkling. i stopped and let it dry then used micro sol to try and get the wrinkles out... only worked with limited success. and the white patches did not disappear with drying... i'm thinking that the glue reacted with the future. i let it dry for another day . still the white fogging was there. i applied more future hoping it would sink in and fix the problem... nope...pretty much ruined....anyways... i stripped it.. as a BTW extra strength oven clean will dissolve bare metal foil.... repainted it , re applied the BMF and 3 coats of future...what did i learn 1. be cautious of applying decals to a future top coat 2. oven cleaner is an excellent stripper.. better than i thought. 3. i can reproduce a paint and finish.... yeah me. you live and learn... anyways i finished the car last night and i'll post some photos of the end results today.. sorry of the novel

The result is excellent and the color blends very well... especially black and red ... It has been a popular choice in many oldies and this car plays using this color a lot. Even in all the stock version, cars are built using this color. Adding the redline to it making it looks well coordinated with old and new. You have executed the work really well... RIDE ON ! love that magazine left in back

Looks really sharp bubbajoe , I really like the black paint !! BMF takes a little practice (and patience) to get the hang of it , but yours is looking good ! I've never had any luck clearing over the BMF so maybe the Future dulls the finish too , I'd try applying it after the Future is dry . You can even polish the BMF first (before you cut it from the sheet) to really make it shine !

once again thank you kindly for the compliments.... my biggest problem with the BMF it keeping it where i put it.. once the model is finished it tends to rip if i dust model and i need to dust often.. so i started to clear coat it to keep it in place... please let me know if there is a better way of applying it.

Hmmm . . . I've read other guys having that problem but I never have . It sounds like the adhesive on the foil is dried out . I store my BMF laying flat in the crisper drawer of my refrigerator and never have any problems , in fact one partial sheet is more than 2 years old and still works just fine !

Thanks bob... recently on another forum i found out that this has been happening to other modelers.. the BMF not adhering well due to the reason you mentioned... i think i need to get a new pack. mine is maybe 3 years old now.i don't use it much and it sits in a draw. ..i like the idea of putting it in the fridge

Looks sweet, BubbaJoe! On the glue used on the back of a sheet of Bare Metal Foil: keep in mind that they (and maybe others?) sell a separate, brush-on glue. Or used to anyway, if memory serves. Anyway, it's probably just "size" for things like gold leafing work, but in a new (smaller) bottle; or so I would imagine. It's a specialized, brush-on glue. In much larger scale, I know that One-Shot sells (humongous, to us) amounts of "size" for use with foil work on cars and motorcycles, etc. Check around at online art supply stores and the like, if you can't get gold-leafing "size" from your local hobby shop. (Or like me, if you don't have a local hobby shop!) EDIT -- yup, the BMF people still sell that adhesive. Check at the bottom of this page, on the BMF web site: bare-metal.com/model-building-molding-specialty-items.htmlAlso, if you guys want to see some really cool gold-leafing tricks "made easy," I'd heartily recommend this paint tricks DVD. spritzbyfritz.bigcartel.com/product/how-to-paint-your-motorcycle-at-home-two-dvd-set
