My work schedule is ramping up,but I found some time to start not just mentally, but physically scratching at this. While staring at the kit, it appeared to me to be very shark-like (as well as rhinoceros-like, but... well... another time ). Starting here, with a Stone, Woods and Cook Willys from Polar Lights: After cleaning up some seam lines and removing the grill. Snout pieces have been applied: Raided the cabinet for some suitable scratch plastic pieces: I needed six of them: and some other parts cut from sheet PVC: Fin and gills (and some fill on the grill -- don't get ill): And the tail as well. Closing off the tires, too. I'll be fighting to find available bench time for the next month, but thanks for looking!

I gotta be honest, I would have never thought of that. But I really want to see it done. Cool!

That one cracks me up! (In the very best way!) Great idea, working out very well! Are you going to go for a Mako Shark kind of paint job, or do you have something else in mind?

If you drive the car backwards does it die on you? Super idea I love it! I really like the use of the spoons that is using the old "Hammerhead"!

Finally found some time to do some work on this. Closed the hood and added the scoop. Weather cooperated enough for me to get some filler and primer on the body. Also did a grill mockup. I'd thought about going for a really 3D set of scary chompers, but I'm thinking they would have been too much. I want this to be a cartoonish car, but not a cartoon. Supposed to hit the 60s this weekend. Maybe get some more spraying done! (yes, Ward, I am thinking Mako) Later

Just posted the Killy Willys to the Entry thread, but wanted to get these other WIP pics in as well. Wanting to keep with the aquatic theme, I thought something more suitable than tire smoke was needed. So I took an empty blue plastic bottle (okay, it was a Pinnacle Vodka bottle ) and created this by cutting the shape and then using some flame to add curvy shapes to the waves: Added some 2-part epoxy streams to create a watery effect: Added a bit of Krylon sparkle blue overspray, and this is what it looked like in position on the base, which is is painted sandy beach-ish: I used the same technique to create header water spout streams: the "eyes" are simple craft store sticky dots.
