Drilling out a Distributor Cap .

Thought i'd share something i figured out today... if this has been done before please let me know. Anyways, I wish i had the funds to be able to purchase wired Distributor Caps ,sadly i can not. for the longest time i have been trying to drill the ones that come with the kits. I always fail. what happens is i can't center the drill bit and i end up using a larger bit and drilling out the entire center of the cap and jamming the wires in and cementing the mess together. . i needed a way to hold the drill bit on the center of each plug housing. today i had some time and here is what i did

first i removed the point of a ball point pen. i used a set of hemostats to hold the tip. i then pushed the ball out of the tip with a pin, (sorry no picture of this)


the end of the pen tip fits perfectly. i tried cleaning the ink out first but some was left in.. i will soak it in some windex later.. 


small pin vise drill fits nicely... slowly drill out the plastic


the ink that was left in the tip actually worked out well to show how well the pen tip centers the drill


the wire fits in perfectly
