Some great info , thanks for posting Steve ! Since the original Monogram boxes , the Monogram/Mattel boxes , and the Monogram Red White & Blue boxes are all dated 1970/71 , I chose not to show all of the different boxes . Only the white boxes have a different date on them , 1974 . I may be rethinking that though . . . if we could be sure that the different logos also represent the different glass (green , smoke , and clear) I would definitely add them to my post . And THANKS for posting the white Thunder Bug box ! It's the only box variant that I was missing , now I can add this to my post ! As for the Honest Engine , we considered it and decided that it belongs in the Show Rod category and is not a Toon .

Thanks for clearing it up about the Honest Engine model kit,Bob! Although the "Honest Engine" is indeed toony in appearance,it is NOT part of the Tom Daniel snapper kit series. It's easy to confuse it as a snap kit,but I can assure everyone that is a glue kit. It is a glue kit and is a showrod.Period. Todd

Hey Bob, Feel free to eliminate any of the photos I added. I was just trying to show all the variations I have found over the years.
AJ in my opinion is the ULTIMATE authority, but I believe all of the white boxes would have clear glass since they are dated 1974. As for different boxes for the Green and Smoked glass, it would be a crap shoot trying to figure that out unless you had cases of unopened boxes to look thru.
I realize the Honest Engine is a glue kit, but wasn't sure if you included it as a Toon or not.

I agree that the white boxes have clear glass , and the original issues with the Monogram logo are green glass . Starting in 1971 when the Monogram/Mattel logo was used could be when smoke glass was used (?) and then the red white & blue logo could be clear glass again (?) . I'm just guessing here and have never really looked into it . I have 30 or more boxes , some with complete kits , some with parts , and some still have the original trees in them so I might be able to get a grasp on it but I just haven't sat down and spent the time . Even then there's no way of knowing for sure that parts haven't been swapped somewhere down the line .
