On the colored/smoked/clear glass, keep in mind that Monogram was also doing that with their glue kits. The first issue Snake and Mongoose funny cars had blue glass, but switched to smoked glass at some point. I have a 1973 white box Snake with smoked glass. The original Troublemaker funny car had dark smoked glass, but I got an eBay built/salvage Troublemaker a while back that turned out have green (!!) glass. The Outcast box shows the car with smoked glass, but the built ones I have and all of them I’ve seen on eBay have clear glass. The Cherry Bomb kits I remember in the shops in the mid ‘70s were the white box showing the car with smoked glass, but they apparently switched to clear at some point. And I got an original box (orange/illustrated, but with the red, white, blue stripe Momogram logo) Dog Catcher a few years ago that has the original orange kit but with a smoked windshield bubble. They definitely progressed from assorted color glass around 1969/70 with the Tom Daniel kits, switched to smoked, and then to clear, but I wouldn’t put money on when any of the switches were made, or that they were made at the same time across the board. Brian Building on Brian's post, generally when the glass was colored (green, blue, red, etc) it was usually from the first run when the molds are finely polished. Then after the molds had popped 5,000 to 10,000 pieces and were showing signs of wear they would change to smoked for another run. And finally would end up with clear on subsequent runs.

OH NO HIM DIT'NT!!!! Just going back over the Monogram logos for the Snap Tites and realized they snuck in another evidently one of a kind I have only seen on the Hemi Semi. Other Hemi Semis I have seen use the Mattel Ball logo. I would surmise this is a 1971 ONLY box and the later issues were 1972 rollovers?.... Then there is this alternate version NOT used on the Snap Tites I found as early as 1968 on the full sized T'rantula which is like the original Boy logo except where it has a purple background this one is black. It is hard to tell from my top pic, but the top pic "boy" appears to be more of a man than on the bottom pic and has a different shirt on and his head tilts to the right instead of the left. I know, too much time on my hands, LOL. Just wondering why they would have spent money on such a small redesign?

OK, problem sol-ved.... On Monograms full sized automotive kits, they did a 1970 changeover of logos featuring the Boy Logo. Not sure I have ever noticed the Black background on any of the Series One snap kits, but it is a possibilty. 1970 Pre changeover logo.... 1970 Post changeover logo.... The mystery still looms though, why would they use the Man boy logo one time for the Hemi Semi. I did also find this same Man boy logo on a few Monogram Models flyers as early as 1968.

Well crap-ola! I guess when it comes to the snap kits all bets are off. Went back looking thru mine and regardless of the style of logo on the "colored" boxes, they all have a 1970 copyright date. So I guess the logos are more of a "guide" than cold hard fact. I'm sorry now I ever brought it up.... GGRRRRRR!

Yup, they did 8 automotive kits as "classics" in 2000 when the Revell/Monogram had a short lived owner Binney & Smith which was a subsidiary of the Hallmark Card Company that came with a trading card inside of the model in the box. That logo was a reproduction of an original logo from before the time of the original relase of these kits. They also did a bunch of airplanes with the series of which I know at least 3 of them came with sew on patches instead of trading cards. This is the complete set from the year 2000 release.... All are mint, if anyone is interested I would take $40 shipped inside the lower 48 only. Sorry, but I don't ship outside the Cont. US.

I recently obtained this oddball Screamin' Vette with blue glass . It's a Series II box which makes sense but this is the first Snap-Tite I've seen with glass other than Green , Smoke , or Clear . There must be more out there , plus the other kits that share this common mold must also have been molded with blue glass !

Holy Schmokes, that's a new one on ME. Has AJ seen this? What makes this unique is "usually" colored clear plastic is popped from a freshly polished mold (first run) so this could be a mix and match with a "test shot" of the glass? So cool, thanks for sharing.
