[glow=red,2,300]MR GASSER 2012!!![/glow] MR GASSER 2012 is a going to be a "Box Art Style" Version of the original Ed Roth Mr. Gasser! I glued his Body together, but you know, I have always thought that Mr Gasser sat about 2 inches too tall in the Chevy... So I cut his bottom off! That's more like it! He is sitting just about the right height Now...

[glow=red,2,300]UPDATING MR GASSER to 2012!!![/glow] I'm going to need a few New Parts to update this 50 year old Model Design and make it more like the Roth Artwork. Polar Lites SnapDraggins have been just released with new Parts & Decals. I was going to use this kit for New Gasser Parts untill I found the Monogram Super Fuzz Kit! [glow=red,2,300]TIRES & WHEELS!!![/glow] The stock Mr Gasser Tires are small, narrow & round, nothing like the Box Art. Both the Super Fuzz & the Snap Draggins Kits have "Oval" Shaped Tires like the Roth art! The Tires on Left are Stock, the Tires on the Right are...the Super Fuzz Tires! The Super Fuzz Tires are One-Sided. Lucky I had an extra set of Super Fuzz Front Tires! I glued the 4 Front Tires together as shown, to make two 2-Sided Tires. Now that's more like it!

[glow=red,2,300]TIRES & WHEELS...GOIN' OVAL!!!![/glow] I cut a 2 pieces of sheet plastic to cover the backs of the Slicks. I Drilled a hole in the Center of each to mount tubing for the axle. I cut pieces of tubing to slide the metal axles into. I glued 1 into each wheel as shown. Next I cut larger diameter tubing to Beef-Up the small tubing for the metal axles and glued them over the small ones. A little Sanding & Paint & the Wheels & Tires are Ready!

[glow=red,2,300]UPDATING THE ENGINE!!![/glow] The Stock Mr Gasser Engine Really needs to be Replaced! I used the 20th scale Engine from MPC's Popcorn Wagon and cut off the transmission and bottom. I cut the Supercharger from the Super Fuzz Engine, Perfect fit!!! Time for a quick Mock-Up!

[glow=red,2,300]CLOUDS of SMOKE!!![/glow] The Smokey Base is from the Monogram "Super Fuzz" Kit. I needed to reduce the width by about 7/8", so I cut out a slice with a Dremel Tool & a Cut-Off Wheel. I hope they reissue this kit again, lot of nice parts here... It is easy to cover the seam with a little putty... The Tires fit into the base, perfectly, just right for a Mock-Up!

[glow=red,2,300]GETTIN' ALL MOCKED-UP AGAIN!!![/glow] The Base will allow me to adjust the position of the Car any way I want! This looks pretty close to the Box Art Position... What Next?

I think thats what these always needed. A cool engine with shiney bits and more realism. GO IRA! Thanks Paul! Yeah, I agree. The other problem I have with the Roth Fink/Car kits is the height of the Finks. They are all to Big and or Tall to fit in the Fink Cars, I cut almost 2 inches of the Gass Man...

[glow=red,2,300]A LITTLE OFF The TOP...[/glow] I found some other Roth Mr Gasser Drawings, and it looks like Mr Gasser originally had a pretty Flat Head and his Chevy was a Gasser! So I cut about 3/8" off the top. Looks like he might need a Brain Transplant... No time for a Brain Transplant, so I cut some plastic to cover the hole!

[glow=red,2,300]WHEEL WELLS...[/glow] The Front Wheel Wells were Too Big for the New Tires. So, I Traced the Wheel Well shapes on to sheet plastic and Cut them out. Then I glued them in place. It took some Cutting & Fitting to get the New Wheel Well Shape right...

[glow=red,2,300]GOIN' CONVERTABLE!!![/glow] I found a Convertable Boot in Revells 48 Ford that fit the Gasser with just a little trimming... I am working with the windshield from an AMT 62 Corvette, but I will probably try something else...

[glow=red,2,300]HAIR!!![/glow] I'm using Squadron Putty to make some Hair. I just sqeeze it from the tube and shape the putty with a #11 X-acto Blade. Don't use too much, it will melt plastic! Looks a liitle too Clean-Cut for Gasser, so I made "Spikes", by squeezing putty right on his head and then pulling the tube back. I started at the back and worked my way forward. Back View... That's a Good Start...
