Figured I better get started before it's too late ! My entry is a Never Was of Dave's '32 Deuce Roadster using a Monogram body . First thing I realized is that without nice big flares to cover those DW tires this will be a challenge , so the tires will need to be narrowed quite a bit . I'm using a frame from a Revell '32 kit along with the rear wheel opening fillers and gas tank . Here I've removed 1 inch from the body and the frame . After the glue dried I mocked things up to decide what's next , no real plan yet just eyeballin' things . The hood is still stock length but I angled both ends to drop the radiator . The windshield is from the Phantom Vickie . Well that's a start . . . time to hunt some more parts .

Holy moly! I love this. A model of this would have sold millions! Can't wait to see it progress.

Not much progress to show , did some body work and built an interior platform for the driver . I found the rear wheels on a diecast , not exactly what I want but thought I'd see how they look . Maybe after the front and rear are painted the same color and trim rings added they'll look okay . That's it for a week or so , got a lot of other chores needing attention .

I haven't decided yet on the wheels but I do know that the rear of the Deuce will be way up in the air so it needs to show some rear suspension . I started playing with a stock suspension but it just looked so tiny with those huge DW tires . So I whittled a differential out of some foam , drilled it to accept a piece of 3/16" tubing , and made a beefier looking rear axle housing ! Made some spring mounts and coil springs made out of wire wrapped around a screw , added some shocks , and fit everything to the underside . I'll add some ladder bars after everything is painted . Rear view after adjusting the ride height . Stay Tooned !

I've spent the last two days building the front suspension . . . actually four front suspensions ! First was figuring out a simple front axle that would look okay , then I had problems locating the front tires where I wanted them , then the ride height was way too low , then I decided to move the front crossmember and rad shell back 1/4" which means the hood needs to be shortened . . . aaarrrrgh ! What you see here is the fourth and final version . I'm probably going back to the wider front tires too .

Love how you put them together.

It takes a lot of adjusting and finding the ways to get the best results for the suspension. Love how you put them together. Yeah it does , even after I'm finished I keep tweaking things ! While working on the hood this morning I redid the upper shock mounts , they looked completely wrong standing straight up like I had them .

Thanks ! The front end is done . . . and it's up on all fours ! Time for some engine and header work . Saving the driver for last .

👍👍 A 'Toon with 'Tude! 😎
Didn't really notice the flattie and zoomies before Bob- I love scratchbuilding "fake" flatties.... (with apologies to our Prez 😄)
Looking forward to seeing this fleshed out 😋

Bob, I can't describe how happy I am with this build! The styling and stance are spot on. And I'm likin' those front skinnies Love how you handled the interior tub. Not sure how Dave and Revell would have evolved it (and you've seen how I handled drop-top seating), but the body looks like they could have been molded as a one-piece. Outstanding!
