This Tom Daniel sketch of Don Prudhomme's early funny car was recently posted over on CC2 and I knew I had to give it a shot ! I just happen to have this 1/32nd scale 'Cuda diecast sitting around . Think I paid a whole $10 for it ! This nasty green Boss Mustang has been hanging around for a while too . I think some creative chopping and mixing of body panels should give the results I'm looking for . I just finished a project that took waaaaay too long so I'd like to complete this one rather quickly ! Stay Tooned !

After using a Dremel to grind a couple of rivets it literally just fell apart ! Here I made the first cut on the 'Cuda then remembered I need to take pictures . Really just winging this one . No measurements or anything , just started cuttin'! And here's a rough idea of where I'm heading . . . needs some tweaking but it's pretty close .

To be honest it kind of shocked me too ! Still a lot of work to do but I'm feeling more confident that this won't turn into a nightmare and drag on forever .

I used some JB Weld to add mounting tabs inside the diecast pieces then Testors cement to glue the plastic body parts to the tabs . After everything was dry I had what you see in the lower right photo . The Boss Mustang body has an upward swoop to it and I want to eliminate that . After a few cuts (actually only needed two of them ) and some more glue I have what I want . I'm going to add some more reinforcement to the inside so nothing moves , then it's time for some body work !

Made substantial progress with the body work . Besides the usual filling and sanding a lot of time was spent reshaping the window and wheel openings to bring it back into a 'Cuda . I also added an exaggerated belt line down the sides which I think really helps !

Great progress.
I have never considered cuttng up diecast cars, let alone mating them with styrene body parts. You're doing an awesome job!
