OK, I'll bite...... I've been on a Deal's Wheels kick, want to build a bunch of them this year, so this is a good way to motivate me..... I sold my original "McClapper" like an idiot, and I really don't care for the "Funster" version, so it will be some sort of lean towards the original art work probably...

You guys have really nice looking plastic ! LOL . Here's a pile of parts I've been collecting for a number of years. The decals TooOld made recently and now this contest will finally get me going on it ! Love this kit, and the one I have is in similar condition but begging to be brought back to life as well! Go for it!

The original McLapper artwork is cool , looking forward to seeing your handy work !

Well, I decided to go a different route on paint. I always loved the old "Gulf" cars that ran at Daytona in the blue and orange paint scheme, so I have decided to give it a go. Yes, I know, the McClaren cars were orange...so sue me..... First a white base coat....

Next round was some Tamiya Orange over that white base coat. I don't spray with rattle cans too often, but I do like the way the Tamiya synthetic lacquers lay down, so I thought I'd give it a go with them.

After some masking, I layed down the blue on the rest of the body and the wing. This paint dries amazing fast and smooth. I'm pretty happy with the results I guess.

And this is my #1 reason for hating doing taped off multi-colored paint jobs.... I use high-end tape, I had the edge smoothed down really well, and I still ended up with a ragged line along the edge. I'll do some cleanup/touchup work, then probably run a black separation line between the colors. The real cars actually had that, so what the hell.... I never have these issues with the airbrush, yet another reason not to rattle can anything.....

Dumb question, as you are a fantastic builer/painter , but did you pull the tape off when the paint was still tacky or wait until it dried ?

Everyone's builds are looking really nice ; my home computer has given up the ghost so I have no pictures, but the Super Spurt is looking better and better. Just put the first coat over the primer last night .
