What a Dr. Frankenstein you are, Bob. Lots o' piecing and patching going on.
Wasn't it Ira that once glued the Deals Wheels fender flares right over the existing fenders and then just ground out what was in the way of the wheels? That's the plan ! I do remember Ira doing that on one of his "Never Was" builds , seems like it was a Falcon or Ranchero maybe ? This one ?

Hmmm... wonder how a Cam-Mad would look? The GoMad roof on there....

Managed some filling and sanding this morning , everything is pretty smooth at this point . After a light coat of primer and a some putty it's time to add the flares . This is where it all went south on me . I cut the flares loose and repositioned them a couple of times then decided to cut the body sides to lower the rocker panels , then there was a lot of patching and a lot of glue . It's not pretty but it's up on all fours . That's what I get for not planning ahead .

Time to start on the innards for the Mustang . I'll be using all of the Deal's Wheels parts but they'll need a little modifying to fit . The interior needed to be stretched about 1/2 inch . And the chassis is stretched about 1 inch . Instead of narrowing the tires so they'd fit under the flares I decided to just open the chassis and move all four in a little . The driver of a Race-Toon needs a helmet so I'm using an extra part from a Funster Racer , it's the same as what's in the Baja Humbug but why scavenge a good kit when this part needs a home . I Vac-U-Formed the rear half using a Baja Humbug part for a mold . Because of the low roof line George really has to hunker down in there ! Just so you know . . . this is the real deal that I'm building as a Race-Toon !

Thats really looking great ! I've always wanted to do a Duster "Deal's" style , but I just dont have the eye for it. I'll start cutting, and cutting, and then a bit more, and I end up with useless chunks and they end up in the trash !

Man, that looks sweet! I guess my brain makes some odd connections, but the pics of that body, all modified like you had showed us earlier, made me think, "I love the smell of primer in the morning. It smells like victory".

To complete the body the front bumper and grille need to modified to fit the new "V" shape . These are the stock parts . I want to save the Mustang badge on the grille so I did some grinding on the backside until it just popped off ! The new grille and bumper . The stock front and rear spoilers seemed kind of small so I made bigger ones more fitting a Race-Toon ! Final mock-up of the body with new pieces . I still haven't found the wheels I want to use , guess I need to do a deep dive into my stash until I find them . Also need to work on some graphics to make it a real Race-Toon !
