No head start for me as I literally just opened the box this morning !
I was tempted to convert the Zzzzz28 into a Javelin but I don't have a body to work with , I do have this '70 Mustang though and it's even molded in orange . . . maybe that's a good omen .
I've got some Grabber Orange paint and am sure I have some Minilites stashed somewhere . I'm thinking a #15 George Follmer Mustang .

Been putting this of for a couple days but now it's time to start cutting . First is the Mustang body . . .
. . . I know guys that would have a heart attack if they saw this !



I'll cut more out of the sides later to adjust the wheelbase .
Also need to shorten the tail so it gets chopped off , the slices are to lower the rear window when it's all glued back together .



On to the DW body , the flares will be transplanted to the Mustang .



First test fit of parts . The wheelbase definitely needs to be shortened but otherwise not too bad .



Think I'll probably use the windshield from the Zzzzz28 too , it has more rake to it .

There's one more major cut that's needed to narrow the front of the Mustang . . .




Spent lots of time unsuccessfully mating the windshield frame to the top , finally I just cut the entire top off .
Don't know why , maybe I was  getting tired , but its done . 



With the body narrowed now the front piece and the the grille need to be modified to fit . I also made a more pronounced "V" shape .





After filling the hole in the hood it also needed to be narrowed .





Here's the result of all the cutting . All it needs now are the flares .

Lots o' piecing and patching going on.

Wasn't it Ira that once glued the Deals Wheels fender flares right over the existing fenders and then just ground out what was in the way of the wheels?

Not that bad actually . Once the top is glued in place the plastic will be fairly even and after a little sanding all I need to do is fill the joints .
